- College campus is very big and green . Here we have facilities like Gymkhana , basketball court, and very affordable hostel that is 2600 per year to live in hostel.
- New branches like ITC AND DATA ENGINEERING has been opened recently providing students to do a minor degree at the same time.
- Also the hostel has an doctor provided that comes on every Thursday and Tuesday for 1 hour and the check-up is free.
Dislikes
- The placement of vgec power electronics is very bad. The college and gujarat technological University should put focus on it to make this branch go up and record good placement.
- The GTU security guard doens't allow students to come from gtu gate although the VGEC and gtu has same campus sharing.
- Here near the college the food is very expensive and of low quality. The mess good is very bad. Some good food shops that provides proper meal should be opened near VGEC.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course curriculum is based on electronics devices that work on small current therefore it is known as power electronics Branch. The best example of this branch is rectifier that is commonly known as Phone charger. Other applications of this branch is in EV car where Power electronics is widely used. There are total 50 students in our branch which is decreasing day by day due to the low placement ratio and package. The faculty members are also less intrested in teaching and the students have to do hard work on their own. Also the worst part of this branch is that the student exchange program in IIT gandhinagar is not available for our power branch all other core branches have this student exchange program available.
Internships Opportunities
The VGEC provids many internship opportunities that collaborate with industrial sector and PSUs like ONGC. also we have 6 month students exchange program at IIT gandhinagar which can be applied at 5th and 6th sem. Only but the bad thing is that all branch has only 2 vacancy and also in that power electronics don't have any vacancy for exchange program.
Placement Experience
The placement record of my branch that is power electronics is very bad. But in other branches like IT , MECH , CHEMICAL EC it is very good in this branch . This year 2023 Bharat electronics had came and provided 12lakh package to 4 students from this college. The package of power electronics is very low starting from 3 lakh. The main reason is that the student result is very low and also the faculties are not interested in teaching at all. This Branch is very intresting and exciting to learn but the environment in this college is not so good that's why the placement is so low.
Fees and Financial Aid
There is state scholarship available for all branches in Government Engineering college Gujarat. Student have to apply at digital Gujarat website with proper documents and also have to submit the hard copy of application in college. There is also other scholarship while applying for the branch in that if your annual income is less than 1,20,000 Then you can apply for TFW while applying for college in Acpc counseling.
Campus Life
Tech fest is called VGEC technofest which is conducted once a year. there are many books available in the library and is free to issue for 3 months with a proper ID card of college. Classrooms are not good and lack basic facilities. Overall very average classrooms are there. There happen many extra curricular activities like annual sports fest , tech fest, navratri festival celebration, college also has NCC and NSS which advances one's communication and personality.
Hostel Facilities
The hostel is very nice with basic facilities like bed , table , heater , personal locker , and one common study room where ethernet is free and you can use unlimited internet with very high speed. But one cons is that hostel don't have good toliets and bathroom. Also if something breaks or damages the repair is done very late by the hostel department because it is an government hostel and govt has less budget to spend. But it is very affordable and spacious room to live. I tell you here near VGEC college the pg are very expensive starting from 7000 per month to 9000 per month in which the food , stay and nasta is included.
Admission
I have given Gujcet exam and the cutoff of power electronics branch in Vishwakarma Government Engineering college is 15000-18000 rank. The VGEC is the 2nd best college of Gujarat with lot of resources and good campus size.
