Remarks

What different our university from other colleges across the country is that it teaches us to have a better way of life. A whole lot of people exist and we need to learn to cooperate, tackle, take things in our stride and learn to just let minor things go. College prepares you for that. Other than that, our management turns out to be a hiccup for students whether it is getting signatures or getting your work done. Despite this, Jamia will be one of the best universities.

Entrance Preview

Among various central universities in the country, Jamia Millia Islamia comes out as a big brand with lots of opportunities. This was the top university on my bucket list of the colleges for admission just because of its reputation and exposure. For the admissions in B.Tech course, I applied for the entrance exam and luckily cleared the same. Although, this exam wasn’t tough but focuses mainly on the speed of calculations. There wasn’t any formality of interviews and admissions are taken on the basis of entrance exam only.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

In terms of the course curriculum, our university has some very practical based subjects for better realization which are necessary for a mechanical undergraduate to know. However, hard work is required to excel in the course. What I have heard is that a lot of research initiatives has been taken by the college in each and every field. We have an ample variety of electives to choose from and it is worth taking them.

Internships Opportunities

Internships are not offered by the university but one can grab any internship when applied offline ie off-campus. As told by seniors, we mechanical student very easily get internships in good companies with a decent pay around 10,000/- per month. One thing our university emphasizes on is the Research and innovation. College provides funds to students for the project and upon successful completion, they will receive a specific amount for all the hard-work put in.

Placement Experience

3.5

My course has so much competition now that it now requires a Post-graduate degree to get well placed and that's what I am planning for. Talking about other branches, our college really makes efforts in inviting companies to the campus. Placement records are better for some courses like Mass communication, BSc, Btech and Law department having good average placement pay package. Although, it all depends on the students profile.

College Events

4.5

Technical events happen almost on a day to day basis with special lectures, sessions, and conferences. One grand fest is organized with a title "TAMILI MELA" where every department puts up stalls and their respective interactive demonstration. This event has large sponsors that make the event more just. It is managed and controlled totally by the students but the administration creates a heck in between by putting official formalities every time.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Since it is a public university, every possible rate is subsidized and so is the fee structure. A total sum of Rs. 11,000 only, excluding the accommodation fees, to be paid yearly for the course. When compared to the output received, it seems to be nothing.

Fees and Financial Aid

Scholarships are provided only to those who belong to reserved categories and not to general category students. Almost every minority student get Rs. 10000 as single scholarship. Since I am not availing any such facility, I am not much aware of this.

Campus Life

4

There are a lot of opportunities to explore the hidden talents whether it is singing, dancing, acting, drama or sports activities. Particular hubs are designated for every activity fully run by students and are doing a great job. Jamia is famous for its weekly nukkad natak presentation in the open canteen.

Hostel Facilities

4

A student needs to go through certain steps and procedure to get a hostel. He/she needs to fill out an application form, a background check is done, local guardian(s) of the student is spoken with, an interview is scheduled and a handful of shortlisted ones are selected keeping academics in mind. There are a couple of hostel for boys and girls and still, not everyone gets the hostel since there is a scarcity of seats in the hostel. The hostel fees for boys is around 7k whereas for girls it's around 5.5k. At times, a waiting list is generated when the demand increases. The whole scenario is politically motivated.

Alumni/Alumna

This is the region where JMI has a big name. Some very prominent personalities like SRK, RJ Naved, Virender Sehwag and Barkha Datt are alumni of Jamia university and that’s so astonishing to be a part of such place. One of the biggest alumni networks we have and we all are still connected with each other through our alumni meets and all of us are ready to help if needed.

Exam Structure

The questions in the examination often get repeated and match with the previous year questions. This seems to be a good thing for a student but it doesn’t help in the long run. Students just stick to past year papers and do not solve anything new. Apart from two semester exams, we have 2 sessional exams as well.

Faculty

4.5

Faculty is the area in which I think our university should improvise and focus more on practical based learning instead of books and theory based. Though some teachers are quite good, again, the number of such teachers is very low. We do have some really good professors which teach us with a lot of credentials and experience under their name and are also involved in research projects. The Faculty of Engineering and technology has the best teachers amongst the entire Jamia University. But the numbers of such teachers need to improve. Although overall performance is acceptable.

The placements of MAIT are decent as compared to market conditions. But the data shown on website or availble at various platforms is not the reality. The mass chunk of students who get a job are placed under and around 6LPA package.

When it comes to curriculum everything us fine accept 1st year curriculum. My branch is ece in 1st year i have to study chemistry and physics which is no use for anybody in future it is just waste of time pretty outdated. For 2,3 and 4th year curriculum is far better than what it is in 1st year. Odd semester starts form August and after 2 month we have to give midsem exam.1 month after midsem we have to give endsem. There is very short time period between midsem and endsem examinations.Even semester starts form January everything is same as that of odd semester.

Placements are good in DTU. Usually a student is eligible to sit in placements from 4th year. Last year 325+ companies visited the campus like google, abode, Amazon, Microsoft, zomato, samsung, maruti suzuki, etc. They all have made 2050+ offers. The highest domestic package was offered by Atlanssian of 82.05LPA. The overall average package was 16.71LPA. The average package of my branch (Production and Industrial Engineering) was 12.34LPA. And in tech branches like CSE, IT it was around 24-25 LPA. Almost everyone is allowed to sit for placements. In PIE branch around 60-65% of student got placed in on campus.
