Likes

Academic area is built well planned and is a spectacle .
Campus has a lot of tree and plants which is good .
Higher study and placement opportunities are good.

Dislikes

Hostels are pretty bad and super crunched .
High academic pressure and harsh grading policy
Too much of reservation which degrades the peer group expected before coming here.

Course Curriculum Overview

this course was was the best i got in the old iits so i was inclined towards it . Faculty : student ratio is pretty good , we get like 1 tutor per 50 students on average . All faculty are highly qualified and have good teching experience . Exams conducted per month and are pretty easy to pass

Internships Opportunities

All the big tech and consulting companies come to hire students from our campus . Companies like google , microsoft come and offfer industry suffice stripends to students . As a freshman i do not know much of this .

Placement Experience

On campus internship oppurtinities are given from the 3rd year and the placement season is usually in the 4th year . almost all students seeking placement get placed ( except 2023 since they got affected by recession).multiple 1cr + packages offered both in India as well outside India .

Fees and Financial Aid

around 130000 inr is the per sem fee .this is quite a lot considering this is an IIT . As a freshman at this institute i have not much ideas about scholarships as of now. but Student loans are easily made possible .

Campus Life

Cultural fest is Antaragni , tech fest is Techkriti ( biggest tech fest in ASIA ) , also a sports fest namely Udghosh . Books are readily available in our P.K library and classroom are well built . sports and PE is also encouraged in ou campus .Students Gymkahana is a major body .

Hostel Facilities

Small rooms with few facilities , student crunch is at peak . Fewer washrooms , lack of proper drinking facility , and overall very badly managed . Mess food is quite good but gets repetitive . Hostel is affordable .

Hostel Fee: INR 60000 per year

Admission

Admission through JOSAA , got AIR -3XXX in JEE adv 2023 , cutoff for my branch was 42XX air (gen) , Application fee was as per JOSAA after jee advacned result . The admission process through JOSAA is complicated to understand at first glance .

IITK From Sparsh's Perspective

Placement Experience:

So the placements of IITK is so good. As it is one of the top colleges of engineering in india, the placement here are quite good. The Average pakages according to last year stats is somewhere around 22 lakhs. And then the we have branch-wise average Pakages too. The students becomes elgible for interhsip in his/her 5th semester and for the placement in his/her 7th semester. The American Express & Jp Morgon visited IITK and has made 11 and 6 offers respectively. The percentage of students getting placed are high , usually higher than 85 percent. I planned on preapring for UPSC after the my degree.

Placement Experience:

From 7 th semester students become eligible for campus placement. Many companies visited like nvidia, oracle, optiver, graviton, amazon ,flipkart,Meesho, zomato etc Highest package I know is approximately 1.5 cr internationally. Almost 90 percent are placed.

Life At IITK

Placement Experience:

After the end of 6 th semester, students need to submit the resume for the placements. At this time my senior placements are going on and they are much better. Like on first day half of the batch got placed. All the it sector company are there you can apply for. Highest package was around 2 cr and average was 25 lakhs. 70 to 80 percent of the students get placed, rest of the students either go for the masters or PhD or some other goal. I am pretty sure after my degree completion i would get an average package but I just wanted to be a civil servant.

Placement Experience:

Students become eligible for campus placements starting from 7th semester of their UG program. IIT Kanpur attracts top tier companies accross multiple sectors including tech, finance, consulting, core and research roles. Major companies visit IIT Kanpur like Microsoft, Amazon, IBM, Intel, McKinsey, BCG, ONGC, ExxonMobil, Schlumberger, Reliance Industries,JP Morgan, Flipkart and many more. The highest package came from international offers with salaries ranging upto 1-.5-2 crore per annum for roles in tech, finance and consuting. The average package across all sectors hovers around 15-20 lakhs per annum. The placement rate at IIT Kanpur is typically very high with aroung 85-95% of students securing jobs through campus placements, depending on the department and year. For highly sought after branches like CSE and EE the placement rate approaches 100%. My plans after completing the degree involve exploring further academic opportunites particularly in research or pursuing a PhD in ES

Placement Experience:

The placement statistics of IITK is great. Every year many 1cr+ packages as well as international packages are offered by top companies to students. The placement percentage is also increasing every year. The students become eligible to apply for companies after 3rd year ie. after 6th semester. The highest package offered was 4cr per annum while the average package was 22lacs per annum. My plan after getting the degree is to get a good paying job and start working.

The placements were good. The highest package was 55lpa and avg package was 19lpa. All top tach companies visit here like Google, GS, MS, Amazon visit here. Around 95% of students were placed. I am joining JioSaavn.

I choose this college becouse of its flexible acdemic structure and its great Alum connections. Also this is the best college i am getting according to my rank and my interest in mathematics. I have Applied for IIT delhi in electronics. IIT Delhi is also a great college but when it comes to academic focus IIT delhi lacks there. Also there faculty administratation is so strict. if a student wants to start something or he/she has a new iniative for the college , he/she will face hard time. So I couldn't make it to IIT Roper CSE branch because my jee adance rank is not that great for the Roper' Computer science. So the Admission process here at IITK is not difficult. You just the originaly document which you have submitted in your josa counselling portal and you need to verify it once here usually a couple opf hours work. Life @ IITK

I chose IIT Kanpur over othe rcooleges because of its academic reputation, research opportunities and strong alumini network. I was also able to get seats in other IITs but I preferred IIT Kanpur due to its legacy . I didn't face rejections, but did not opt for some colleges even after qualifying due to lower research output, weaker placement stats.
