Considering it is so hot, they must switch on the AC. The ACs are installed. But are not switched on for BA BSc. The campus is big. The library is off campus which is a drawback.
Entrance Preview
There was a cutoff which had to be met for the economics course. Once your class 12 board marks meet the cutoff you get direct admission after completing the formalities. Economics has a wide scope today and will have tomorrow.
Course Curriculum Overview
St. Xavier's College offers an excellent course for economics. It features in top 5 for the same in India. Along with a strong theoretical base it gives embhasis on practical learning. We have a practical exam in each semester which helps us to derive and solve life based problems in Excel using our theoretical knowledge. All students are encouraged to write Research papers. I myself wrote one paper under the guidance of one of the professors. It's annual Economics Summit, Confluence (national level) gives the students an outlet to showcase their practical knowledge. The options the course offers is a compulsory math paper and an optional political science or statistics paper for the first 3 semesters.
Internships Opportunities
Internships are provided but not for all. Students are selected by the companies that visit the campus. Stipend is around 1000-2000
Placement Experience
Placement cell is good. But now as good as the DU colleges. Need to get in more number of established companies. Major companies were EY GDS, EY india, Delliote, Goldman Sachs, ITC. Average stipend is 3.5-4 lacs
College Events
Xavotsav the cultural fest of St. Xaviers has a footfall of more than 2000 people.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The arts and science department courses are very affordable as half the fee is paid by the government. The security deposit is Rs 5000. Annual fee is around 25000
Campus Life
Lot of sports activities go on in the college. Culturally fests are organized by goonj every now and then .
Hostel Facilities
I'm not residing in the college hostel. Rooms are of all kinds, single, twin sharing and 3 sharing. There are non college PGs near the college. The food is average. Needs improvement.
Alumni/Alumna
Best alumni of India. Does events on a monthly basis.
Exam Structure
The exam structure is very organized. It has a semester system of 6 sems. Each semester has a Continuous internal assessment followed by the final exams. The semester system allows for concise syllabus and increases the retention power
Faculty
The professors are the most experienced of the college faculty. With Msc and PhD degrees and experience of 20 years, they are still highly approachable inside and outside the classroom. They motivate us to go beyond the curriculum and learn something extra.
