What Students Say
Likes
- I liked the fractile academic system which lets us choose the courses we like.
- campus infrastructure is top notch in most of the construction completed area.
- Senior and junior relations are distinct here that is you can be with or not.
Dislikes
- lacking Seniors juniors relationship will cut us from most of the other stuff in campus.
- The student body here is not as powerful as other old IITs.
- Though IITH has top 10 NNRIF ranking it still lacks student culture and our director does not let us take any action.
Course Curriculum Overview
I chose Civil engineering for 2 reasons, one is due to my rank and the other is due to my interest in building. The courses were rigourous and hard to cope up unless we make a friend circle in the Institute.
Internships Opportunities
Over all internship placements will of 2 phase land over 200 people out of 450 get internships. IITH has tie-up with japan which helps in getting many japanese companies for the placements for both internships and placements
Placement Experience
We go through Internship placement in our 6th semester and full-time placement will be on the 4th-year 1st semester that is 7th semester. A good number of people get PPO through internships and the rest get placed in our 7th semester.
Fees and Financial Aid
There were scholarships but what I knew were mostly category-based which did not help me much. Compared to other IITs, IITH fee is more and we have to pay for some hostel amenities extra which overall is 147566 per semester for me.
Campus Life
Since we had to study online for an entire semester we did not have a freshers party or any welcoming event, and club interviews were taken after coming to the campus. I joined Athletics but for the rest, I did not have enough talent to mingle with others or get into clubs
Hostel Facilities
We get a double sharing room as a 1st year and will be shifted to a single room thereafter. The hostel design may look sophisticated but it is completely convenient, we get very good internet speed on the campus.
Admission
I wrote JEE MAINS for which I got 4 attempts due to COVID-19, then got qualified to write JEE Advanced which has 2 question papers, One will be on the morning of the examination date and the other will be in the noon of the examination date. Almost 12 Lakhs have given the JEE Mains examination out of which 2.5 Lakhs of applicants will be qualified for writing JEE Advanced. And from there almost the top 16,000 applicants will be given a chance to enroll in the Indian Institute of Technology college through the JoSAA(Joint Seat Allocation Authority) website. There will be 2 mock and 6 real allocations based on the preferences of all the students who are qualified for IIT. After completion of the 6 allocations we will be getting the allocation letter from the Institue and department we got allocated into. After coming to the campus we will be allocated to our hostel rooms, and classes will be for us within a short period due to COVID-19. Our 1st semester and 1st 2 segments were online.
Interview Experience
No, there were no group tests or interviews for admission to IIT. Admission is only done by getting a good rank in jEE Advanced which can be written only by qualifying JEE MAINS exam. For the above exams, we need to have very good understanding of the Intermediate syllabus which enough but comes only by practise.
