Remarks
Just in the 3rd year, up till now it's a mixed experience regarding every aspect of college life. There is both good and bad. College can work more on it's infrastructure and the curriculum. As of now, there is no hostel for girls. There is a great campus, however. I enjoy the shades and the walks of the campus a lot. It is a relaxing environment which makes us attached to it. I will miss it later for sure.
Entrance Preview
It was a common entrance exam held by the university. After the objective the exams, once results are declared, those who have passed are called for an interview. the interview process was more like a counselling process. I was interested in this particular area for a long time now. That is reason which made me choose the course. I enjoy studying law. I prepared or the law entrance in Utkal with previous year question papers while I was in 12th standard. I was able to pass the exam in the first chance.
Course Curriculum Overview
The subjects are interesting as well as useful, of course. Yes, college does encourage for practical learning but the initiative is mostly taken up by the seniors. The Student's Body is particularly active in helping the management in organizing seminars and debates. There are international seminars on various law related subjects a few time in a year. Many prominent lawyers and journalist lead the classes and we also get opportunities to present papers before them. No, there are no research initiatives in college.
Internships Opportunities
The college encourages for internship. We are provided opportunities to go and pursue internships. The college does help us in finding internships. We are not paid but these internships themselves give us a lot of exposure to the world of law. We interact with top-class professional and learn more practical aspects of what we learn in class rooms. It is really like having a job, only with no salary.
Placement Experience
The college invited the placements in the previous year only. Till then there were no placements at the end of the course at all. We are expected to get jobs ourselves. But this isn't the problem of Madhusudan Law college alone. Most law colleges in India doesn't have placement options. It is because of the nature of the course. We are going to be practicing lawyers at courts all over India. So that is not a job which can be gained via placements. Individual talents and efforts are what matters in our career. The most that the college can do to help us is to give us recommendation letters at the end of course.
College Events
Armonia is the National Law fest conducted yearly in our college. It is a huge event which has participation o students from law colleges all over India. The whole ambiance of the fest is mind blowing. Students are provided stay and food during the days of the fest. It is totally well-organised and the whole week is so much fun, though we have to work a lot. Concordia is the State Law fest that takes place in college. We also have events like the Biswaranjan Pattanaik Memorial Moot Court competition, Call for papers and National seminars from time to time.
Fee Structure And Facilities
It's quite affordable being a state govt. college. The fee is a mere ₹35,000 per annum. It is affordable for almost everyone. It is great to be able to learn a course like the law with such low amounts of fee. I have been lucky in that case. The whole sum that I will have to pay in these five years is less than 2 lakhs.
Fees and Financial Aid
No , we are not awarded scholarships. We are eligible for the government scholarships. The college notice board will have information about these from time to time. We have to apply individually and the necessary documents to be furnished will be provided by the institution. That is all that the college does for scholarships. Neither are we helped in securing loans. Not that many students need loans.
Campus Life
Yes, it depends upon the individual you can always look forward for opportunities. If you are interested in sports and games, you will get a lot of opportunities. There are facilities available for both indoor and outdoor games. They are very nice. We have college football and cricket team who sometimes go and participate in inter collegiate matches.
Hostel Facilities
The college does not have access to hostel facilities. There are few students from other states in the college. They live outside campus in the near town by renting rooms or houses. Boys however have hostels. They are quite nice ones with good food and nice rooms. No, there aren't any PGs here. It is one of the biggest drawbacks of Madhusudhan.
Alumni/Alumna
The college does not holds alumni meets specifically but during conducting competitions, fests or seminars they are invited for interactive sessions. The college has many famous advocates as alumni. They do inspire us to achieve something in life.
Exam Structure
No, it was a chill culture. We had a relaxed exam schedule. The examination dates were announced a month or so ahead and then we had ample time to get prepared. There was nothing so pressurized about them. We gave exams and usually the results came after two weeks. Valuation is fair and unbiased. We get a report card after every exam which we have to get signed by parents.
Faculty
Teachers are both young as well as experienced. Some are really interactive while others are not. But they are all approachable at all times. I consult them whenever I am in need of clarifications. They always teach in a way that could make the law lessons interesting. Having a great knowledge o the various cases, both national and international ones, they explain the theories along with the examples and then everything gets more interesting. I like it that way better.
