The faculty is good i.e. The professors are quite experienced in the subjects they are teaching. However, while some professors teach well, some are not so good (only personal views). This is because way of teaching of all professors is not same, while we like some we don't like others; while some are friendly and seem enthusiastic while teaching others are not; while some are easily accessible and willing to solve our doubts outside class, others are busy and rigid in terms of meeting after classes. Some courses are really good and do teach us a lot others which focus on rote learning seem to be just a waste of time (ar it makes mind dull). Some courses do require us to think and apply our intuition while others focus on only bookish learning. Overall academics at IITD is a mixup of good and bad; while some may think of it as more useful some may not feel it to be that useful.

The students are given both the choices for the Internship i.e. Self or through Institute. Students taking Internship opportunity via T&P cell are given assured stipend which varies in amount according to company.

There is a T&P cell in IITD responsible for getting internships and job offers and a lot of companies come. Average salary for Mechanical department is around 8-9 lakhs per annum. Alumnis are really very effective in getting more companies which come looking for the deserving students and give them high packages.

A variety of clubs like debating club, quizzing club, music club, dance club, economics club, fine and arts club etc. are here and students involve in them with great interest. All common sports like Cricket, Football, Hockey, Badminton, Squash etc. are played in campus with a wonderful infrastructure. Students involve in extra-curricular activities with great enthusiasm.

Fee structure of IIT is feasible as compared to other private Institution.The amount spent by IIT on a student is much more higher then the fee taken from him/her.

Many scholarship options are available. Approximately 25% of the students get scholarship on the basis of their parents' income. A number of bank loans are available at low rates of interest.

While students of all caste and religion study here, no diversity or discrimination of any kind exists here. However a healthy spirit of competition exists among students. Consumption of alcohol is banned. There are a number of restaurants around campus.

Rooms in majority of hostels are old and were initially built for 2 students. But due to increasing Intakes, administration is now allotting a single room to 3 students which makes it little uncomfortable. Mess food is good.

Seniors are very helpful in all matters. Alumnis are really very effective in getting more companies which come looking for the deserving students and give them high packages.

IIT follows Semester approach. Each semester consists of 2 Minor examination and one major examination.
