Jadavpur University is good college provides us opportunities like research, builds our career more often person and his personality, with lots of practice, and technological awareness I feel it is my second home. I will miss this when I will pass out. One will always want to again study at this University.

Admission to Jadavpur University, Kolkata is via WBJEE entrance exam. I wanted to choose Computer Science but my rank was 798 and CSE seat was filled so I choose Information Technology (I.T)

IT is an upgrowing course. IT students are recruited by all companies for their works like system designing, research, etc. The course curriculum related to the technology which is being used in our daily life. The first year consists of all department subject. In Second, Third and Final year, course deals with departmental subjects like Database Management System, Computer Network, Computer Architecture, Operating System, Microprocessor, Multimedia, Distributed System, Graph Theory, Finite Automata and Theory of Computation, C programming language, Data Structures and Algorithm, Artificial Intelligence, Web Technology, Object-Oriented Programming like Java, C++, etc.

Yes, my college provides us internship. After 3rd year, many companies like Amazon, Microsoft, Goldman Sachs, Samsung, Salesforce visit our college to recruit IT students for 2 months duration. The stipend varies from company to company with range from 20K to 75k. 28-30 student from Information Technology batch (2015-2019) got Internship. Pre-placement offer is also provided to students if they perform well.

Many fest and cultural activities, workshop are being organized, conducted by Jadavpur University. Some of them are CIIPPUS - Jadavpur University Saltlake Campus students fresher party takes place nearby teachers day U-turn - Engineering students Fresher party, conducted after CIPPUS. Sanskriti- cultural fest in which different colleges participate in dance, drama, etc, for 1 week Srijan- inter College fest - conducted in the month of Jan/Feb. There are many scholarship chances provided to students The Scholarship is provided on the basis of the student's family income. Students are given a 1-2 scholarship. Loan facilities are not provided Some scholarship provides half of their college fees, some provide full tuition fee.

In some department student are more in some less. Following are the strength of the student 70-80 in CSE, IT 50-60 in Power Engineering Around 120 in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Chemical 30-40 in Construction, Instrumentation 20-30 in Printing, Production Gender ratio varies from department to department Generally, it is 1:6 but low in mechanical, civil, construction. Information Technology is having 1:8 girls: boys ratio There is a student union in our university where we can raise our voice if something wrong is our happening.

Senior and Alumni are very much helpful, cooperative, interactive. They are ready for help whenever a student asks for it. They often guide us, conducts workshop, seminar, club to teach us. Well, teachers and senior are equal in terms of helping us. They help us in minimizing our problem, in our work, for notes during Examination, etc

After the declaration of wbjee result, wbjee counseling starts(three rounds are done). We are required to fill up the department and college list and sort it according to our preferences often called as choice filling round in wbjee official site. On the first round, we are alloted one of the choice (filled during choice filling round) and we have to visit reporting center mention in wbjee official website and submit our document as mentioned in wbjee.nic.in Failure to visiting reporting center of the candidate, will not be allowed for further round and alloted seat also will be canceled. On further rounds, we need not visit the reporting center unless we are not upgrading our choice list which we choose before starting of counseling Seat allocation is done on the basis of choice and rank which the candidate has got.

All departmental teacher of IT are knowledgeable. Some are having a Ph.D. degree. Apart from teaching, teachers also do research work and have any citation. They are ready to help students and always help when students ask for it. Teachers encourage us to explore new technologies, research work and make us aware of current technology. Sometimes we have a nice interaction with them in technical fields.
