Engineering life in St.Joseph Engineering College

The good thing about our college is the lush green campus with diverse trees and plants and provides a study-friendly environment for the aspiring students coming from different parts of india. Bad things are about the canteen and cafeteria because of their overpriced food stuff.

I had taken CET for entry to this college since it's the only way to get government seats here. My CET rank was 21726 and cut off rank for General merit students was 32000 and I got placed in this college without any problem. Along with CET, I applied for JEE also and got large margin scores. There was nothing like an interview for admitting here and was a clean process, just by filling the respective forms about student details.

Civil Engineering was started here in the year of 2012 and had only one batch. Now since this course had completed 8 years in a row, has some decent course structure with well-knowledged lectures. Many of the lectures are involved in the research field and are preparing for Ph.D. courses.

Our College has dedicated a place for internship focusing mainly on Mechanical Engineering. Civil Engineering students are informed on time about the internship availability nearby. Since I am from first-year I cant give much information about the internship from my own experience.

With respect to Civil Engineering has less amount of Companies offering Placements but has a decent package. My brother passed out student from St.Joseph Engineering college has been placed in Gulf Contracting company, Room with a decent salary. The college has a tie-up with companies like Infosys, NPTEL, Indo Universal Collaboration for Engineering Education.

Every year Annual program takes place on the month of January and is of the short duration of 3hrs and boring one. Milan is another cultural event on the month of November. The second semester has technical events like Tiara and is one of the National event taking place in college Further college has small events taking place every month. Overall events are the most highlighting feature of this college except Annual Cultural event.

The fee structure is as follows KEA Fees: INR 56,000 College fees: INR 24,990 Other expenses College Bus: INR 7200 Uniform and Other: INR 2000 Fees are reasonable in reference to earlier Engineering Fee trend Overall the fees paid is worth and can be observed throughout the year.

There is no such scholarship offered by the college but scholarship are available from different Govt website. MHRD is one of the Central Government based scholarship available for all category student with the percentage of 80% and above.

Gender ratios are nearly equal and may vary form branch to branch. There nothing like Student/Dorm Parties in our college. Workshops are frequently conducted in the college campus with decent entry fee. High-quality curriculum for all students that promote excellence and equity towards education. ethnic day is celebrated in our college to highlight ethnicity among student. Our college does not judge any student on any basis of race and religion. Politics and economic status are running in decent way

I am staying in PG and room rent is INR 5500. INR 2500 for Food and INR 3000 for room rent. According to my friend review, hostels are pretty good with different food served every day, especially Non-Veg. Rooms are well maintained and well furnished with one wardrobe and one cot. Two students cam stay in one room. The hostel has Wifi facilities starting from the second year. None of the outsiders are allowed to enter the hostel and that ensures the security to students residing there.

Not alumni but we discuss a lot with seniors about career basis and they also respond well. Sometimes alumni of St. Joseph conducts a talk related to career and helps a lot for aspiring students

St. Joseph College of Engineering is under Visweshwaraiah Technical Institute (VTU) and has a typical Exam structure. Every Semester has 3 internals,1 lab internal and annual lab and theory exams. With reference to 1st Semester, the schedule was super hectic with 4 internals due to VTU issues. 2nd sem was normal and manageable.

After the CET results were announced 30 May 2017,we were given particular college near us for College option entry process and for me this process was held in Sahyadri College of Engineering, Adyar, Mangalore. After these process, we had to go to the college where we had to admit and got admitted without any problem.

Faculty-wise genuine lectures with good knowledge can be seen here and their depth of knowledge can be felt by students when they teach us. Physics, Chemistry, Electrical, Electronics has some deep knowledge lectures. The mathematics department is moderate with some irritating lectures as per student review from my class. Overall First year of Engineering can be completed in Ease here, excluding the hectic subjects.
