Course Curriculum Overview

5

I wanted to do a comprehensive course that covers every important aspect which includes finance, marketing, and operations. And the PGDM course was the one suitable for the same, therefore, I opted for this course as it gave me immense insights into broader fields. Faculty to student ratio is fairly good. They are very reachable whenever one feels troubled regarding any issue be it academics, case study competitions, future roadmap etc. Faculties are well qualified in their respective domains including CFA level 3 which in itself is a big achievement along with that the years of experience they have are commendable. Their teaching method is the best part which includes both theoretical and practical sessions. Relevance of information becomes important while teaching. The way faculties include all the new information that comes across in today's fast-paced world is awesome. Exams are held every 1.5 months. If one studies regularly, then the exams can be passed fairly.

Internships Opportunities

3

The summer internship cycle begins from September end itself and all the students get campus offers until and unless someone opts out of the process. Companies that visit for summer internship drive are from different sectors such as CRISIL, Barclays, Asian Paints, Flipkart, Adani, GEP, Gartner, EY, Adobe, Arcesium, etc. Roles offered in these internships are product intern, risk analyst intern, sales intern, process analyst intern, project intern, marketing intern, etc. The highest stipend offered last year was Rs 2,80,000 for 2 months and the average stipend offered was Rs 73,400 for 2 months. Projects during the internship include research work both primary and secondary apart from this the market study and working on different areas in the finance domain.

Placement Experience

4

So there are placement weeks for each of the two batches. First for a summer internship and then for the final placements. These two weeks usually happen in November and December. All the students are usually eligible for campus placements until and unless any individual wishes to opt out of the placement process. There are diverse range of companies visiting the campus to name a few are Deloitte, KPMG, Gartner, Shell, JP Morgan Chase, etc. Companies from different sectors such as FMCG, consulting firms, manufacturing firms as well as IT companies. All of these visit campus. Each year all the students get placed from the campus placement drive itself. The highest package offered last year was 50 lakhs per annum whereas the average package was 17.01 lakhs per annum. Profile offered were such as product manager, business analyst, area sales manager etc.

Fees and Financial Aid

Fees are usually a bit below the premium B-schools of the country. However, the location of the college is such that the hostel fees charged become expensive in comparison to the rooms offered. That is the only point that can be an issue for students as the seats available inside the campus are limited and the cost of the rooms is high. I didn't receive any scholarship although I did take an education loan for the fees which is an easy process due to the reputation of the college. And there are fee waiver policies for ews students subjected to the AICTE guidelines. I am currently a final year student and the placement process is ongoing.

Campus Life

3.5

Life inside the hostels is pretty monotonous as very few seats are available for both the year students. Although there are all kinds of sports facilities, gym, etc available which are accessible to everyone which reduces this monotonous period. The annual fest of our college is known as Kritva which happens every year in the month end of February. This event garners participation from various colleges across India. The library of the college is fairly good as you are provided with daily newspapers that too from different sources such as Indian Express, Economic Times, Business Standard, etc. All the classrooms have access to electricity ports for ease of accessing laptops in the classrooms along with AC and comfortable seats for everyone. Talking about sports, as the campus is not that big therefore, there are small sizes courts where we all can play cricket, basketball, badminton, table tennis, etc. There are 11 clubs, two student affairs bodies, 4 committees and a student council

Hostel Facilities

3.5

I was lucky to get accommodation inside the campus itself. The hostel room includes all basic facilities such as a study table, chair, almirah, small shelf, ac, and curtains. Every day rooms are cleaned thanks to the staff members responsible for the same. Meal quality is fairly decent and you get a variety of options every day though repetitive in every week. Menu for the food covers every aspect including that for vegetarians as well as non-vegetarians. And the counters for both are at a fair distance which is a good thing. Along with that food is served four times a day. The registration process for the hostel begins along with the selection itself. As soon as you are shortlisted you are given a chance to opt for a hostel if the seats are available. Affordability is very high as seats are limited and apart from that location of the college makes it a bit more pricy.

Admission

Eligibility of the course is that one has to clear the XAT/CAT exam to be considered. I cleared the XAT exam post that I received a call for an interview process and extempore. The application form for admission can be accessible directly through the website itself. All the other details including application fees and dates are mentioned there which varies yearly. In the admission process, maybe a bit more transparency in the process of waitlist criteria can be made so that a student gets to know his/her position regularly as the waitlist moves. It can be a better option as he/she can predict whether to wait for the same or not.

Interview Experience

4

The process for selection is fairly good as it includes an extempore and interview. The topic of my extempore was India as a country. I was given a minute to think about it and then around 2 to 3 minutes to talk about the same. Then the interview questions were based on my work experience, engineering background questions, and discussion revolving around current affairs news. I started preparing for the interview and other rounds as soon as the results came out. I covered current affairs first as it becomes really helpful in processes such as GD, extempore, and interviews. Then brushing up on the basics of undergrad is important. Along with that, I reviewed my work experience to be well-versed with what I did and how to answer the same.

Placement Experience:

Placements of my college are average when compared with other B-schools of similar level. The companies which have visited so far for internships are mostly start ups like Wealth Blue and Outlook, but some other companies like ITC, Bajaj Capital and Coca Cola moon beverages have also come on campus. The highest stipend promised so far is 15,000 for 3 months or 10,000 per month for 2 months. A lot of students are yet to be placed, both for final and summer placements. My plan is also to get a job post my PGDM.
