Course Curriculum Overview
Course curriculum is good and my personal decision was to choose Electrical Engineering because of the vast array of knowledge it presents and my personal interest in it. Electrical curriculum is widely considered to be difficult and requires highly imaginative mind which felt like a healthy challenge to me. Electrical engineering curriculum at NIT Raipur prepared us well for the industry requirements and the faculty are also very supportive in terms of teaching and making sure that the students learn the topics well. There are no such areas of improvement this college needs to work on as such. Exams take place twice in a semester which are the Mid semester and End semester exams. Mid semester exams typically take place 2 months into the semester and End semester takes place 1.5 months after that. But there is no such "defined" time period and happens according to the institutes given calendar. Exams are moderate and not that difficult if one prepares for them.
Internships Opportunities
Internships are offered to students in the 3rd year and it depends on the students course, about which internship they would take. One can do free internships which work as a form of skill enhancer in their 2nd year maybe but in their 3rd year they get internships with stipends. These internships are necessary as they are included by the college in its curriculum.
Placement Experience
Placements are good in this college and many reputed companies visit for recruitment. Students are eligible for recruitment from the 4th year itself and they can take part in internships from the 3rd year. Both core and non core companies visit the college for recruitment. Companies like CapGemini, Cognizant, Infosys, Wipro and TCS visit and around 700 job offers were made in 2022 for the BTech candidates.Lowest salary offered in my course was 5 Lakhs and the Highest salary offered was around 50 Lakhs. Around more than 70% candidates were placed. Right now I haven't planned on what to do after my degree but I'm open to all possibilities.
Fees and Financial Aid
Fees structure is very well defined in that the people belonging to SC and ST category have no tuition fees, the ones belonging to General, GenEWS and OBC have their fees based on their income which is found by their income certificate. The ones having an income of less than 1 Lak per annum have no tuition fees (still around 8 thousand per sem). The ones having 1 to 5 Lakh per annum have a tuition fees remission of 2/3rd (Around 29 thousand per sem) and the rest have a complete fee of 70 thousand per sem. Fee increase happens occasionally but they increase it in small amounts. Scholarships are available for all types of students and the students are informed about them regularly so that they do not miss out on them.
Campus Life
Campus life is very good and basically depends upon person to person. There are many committees and clubs for the students to join and increase their knowledge and exposure with. The Annual Science Fest, AAVARTAN is conducted around the month of October. The cultural fest, ECLECTIKA is conducted in February and there are also other events such as E-SUMMIT which are conducted as well. Library has a good range of books and materials available for the students. Classrooms basically have a projector and a black board so that professors can show the presentations and teach the students simultaneously. Sports and extracurricular activities take place regularly and mainly the sports fest, SAMAR is the highlight of them all which takes place around January. Overall the infrastructure is not the best but still good enough. Also another sports complex is being built right now which might also improve the standards of the sports department here.
Admission
Eligibility of the course is to clear the JEE Mains Exam and to join the JOSAA counseling to avail the seat in this college. There is no separate application process of the college and all applications are performed through JOSAA counseling at first. Then when you are accepted into the college, then you have to go to the college to accept the seat and pay the Admission Fees. We had to pay 76 thousand INR on the JOSAA portal during registration and seat acceptance out of which it was later revealed that our 1st semester fees would be deducted from it and the rest of the amount was to be returned back to us. Reservation Benefits are available for SC and ST candidates and also for Gen-EWS as well as OBC candidates. We can show the proof of Income certificate to avail the college fees remission which is full fees remission for people with family income below 1 lakh, 2/3rd remission for 1 to 5 lakh, and full fees for 5 lakh and above. Overall admission was very swift and easy.
