Course Curriculum Overview
The course is overall very good and the reason for choosing this course is that Electrical Engineering is a core branch and offers a variety of future career opportunities. The curriculum is based on exam based grading system and the GPA is fully dependent on how well we score, which is not considered a good thing. The curriculum should introduce more engaging activities and grading system rather than just written exams. The frequency of exams is twice a semester, given that a semester is 4 months long, which can be hectic for students and exams are also of higher difficulty.
Internships Opportunities
The internship opportunities in the first year itself is completely online based. Microsoft,Intrnforte and internship programs from various IITs are available with stipend ranging from 5,000 to 15,000. Project outcomes include skill development and skill building.
Placement Experience
The college placements are feasible and provide enough opportunities for students to move forward with their career. The students become eligible for placements from the 7th semester. Companies like Wipro and Amazon also comes to hire employees from our college. The highest package goes to 68 LPA. 80 to 90 percentage of students get placed on campus and there are also varios off campus placements. My plans after getting a degree is to further continue higher studies.
Fees and Financial Aid
The tution fees for the whole course is fixed and specified at the beginning of the course and there are minimum hikes . The SC category waivers full tuition fees reimbursement so I have to pay only admission fees and other charges which does not exceed 10,000 RS per semester. Scholarship is available for students and there are multiple schemes to choose from. National Scholarship Portal offers a sum of 1,50,000 to students . Campus placements are appreciable in my college and recently multiple students have bagged package of around 50 LPA this year. Stipend is awarded for internships offered by private authorities.
Campus Life
The campus life is good for socialising with batchmates and seniors. There is a friendly environment amongst seniors and juniors. Seniors actively trying to engage juniors in clubs and committee activities. Some annual fests of NIT Raipur are Eclectika,Samar,Avinya, etc. The campus is equipped with its own gymnasium and various sports courts and fields. There are also many clubs and committees run by students including Innovation Cell, Entrepreneurship Cell, etc.
Admission
First of all the eligibility criteria for this course was having a passing certificate of class 12th by a recognised board of education. The qualifying exam for this course was Joint Entrance Examination also know as JEE. After the release of scorecard in JEE,the candidate had to register in JOSAA website, which is an organisation for seat allocation amongst NITs,IITs,IIITs and GFTIs in India. The desired choices had to be filled for the specific course and if the JEE score met the cutoff for the course,it's assigned to the candidate. The admission process was conducted over a span of 8 days in which a candidate was assigned a day. It was an all day long process in which the documents to be brought were informed in the institution website. At the time of admission, there was no need of paying fees . The exams happen twice in a semester and have high difficulty levels. My suggestion would be to eliminate the offline process and adopt online process for first time admission.
