About NIT Raipur

The curriculum trains students for all basic knowledge in engineering field and in depth knowledge in their particular branch field. In first year of BTech engineering, students are taught common subjects in all branches as there is a provision of branch upgrade. Second year onwards, students study the subjects specific to their respective branches. Professors all the relevant information about their field along with the scope where this knowledge will be used in future. This course has 8 semesters. Each semester comes with two exams: mid-semester and end-semester exams. The difficulty level of these semester exams are moderate as per the curriculum. A student can surely be trained well for real world application of the given knowledge. Though one can face difficulty due to large class size and lack of one to one interaction with professors.

Students undergo their internships / training at various renowned companies, PSUs (including Maharatna and Navratna), DRDO, ISRO etc. Some students also intern at premier technical education and research institutions like IISc, IITs, IIMs, GERMI. Students can be assured of the quality, industrial exposure and technical knowledge relevant to their streams.

NIT Raipur Has Quite a Good Placement Report among NITs. Students from fifth semester start working on internships and projects to support their experience. The placement season starts from 7th semester for the students. A total of 693 offers were received during NIT Raipur BTech placements 2022-2023. Apart from this, a total of 47 and 69 offers were received during NIT Raipur MTech and MCA placements 2022-2023, respectively. The top recruiters during NIT Raipur placements 2022-2023 included Deloitte, Wipro and Genpact. Currently in the 2023-2024 session, the highest package offered has been 62 LPA while the average packages have been 18 LPA for non-core placements and 8 LPA for core placements. Elite companies like Microsoft, Adobe, Google also recruit students from NIT Raipur. 74.92% students get placed every year from the institute while others work on their start-ups and further higher studies.

The academic fees for first semster is ?72,000 exclusive of hostel and mess fees. As we carry forward in the course, fees varies between ?60,000 to ?70,000. If you opt for hostel, the fees is ?52500 in which hostel and mess charges are included. The complete cost of education can go around 5.5 Lacs Rupees exclusive of hostel facilities and 7.6 Lacs Rupees with hostel facilities included. Fee waivers are provided by the institute only on Tuition fees. If the student's annual family income is below 1 Lakh rupees, the complete tuition fees is waved of and if the students annual income is between 1 lakh and 5 Lacs Rupees, only one third of the tuition fees amount is applicable. Other scholarships are also provided by the state government and other associations. The student can browse for the scholarships applicable.

In each academic session, four festivals are conducted in NIT Raipur, namely... Aavartan - the technical festival E-Summit - the entrepreneurship festival Samar - the sports festival Eclectika - the cultural festival Out of these Eclectika is the annual festival conducted in a grand way. It is also known to be the biggest fest of Central India. It is held around the time of February. It's a three day fest that comprises of Cult night, Celeb night and EDM night. Celebrities like Mohit Chauhan and Darshan Raval are invited in the fest. A wide range of books and journals is available in the library with access to wifi for students to sit in the library and study online. Classrooms can seem low grade to you at first but are being upgraded eventually. Different clubs and committees are operated in the college. Some of them are Nrityam - the dance club, Technocracy- the technical club, E-Cell - the entrepreneurship club, Shaurya - the sports club. Many events are held all round the year.

To get admission into NIT Raipur, a person needs to clear the exam of JEE MAINS. To apply for JEE MAINS, you can visit it's official website- jeemain.nta.ac.in There you will find links for application. The application fees is ?1000. This exam is conducted twice an year. 1st session has already been conducted in January whereas the 2nd session is about to happen in April (tentative). Application dates for JEE MAINS 2024 2nd session are from 2 February 2024 to 2 March 2024. The duration of this exam is 3 hours in which you will be given 90 questions from PCM. You can answer max 75 questions out of them. After results have been declared, you have to appear in JOSAA counselling to get into NIT Raipur. Last year in 2023, Cut-off for NIT Raipur was 75904 for Generals of other states and 117506 for Generals of home state in the last round of JOSAA. After selecting college, you have to get your documents verified- first online during JOSAA and then physical reporting at the time of admission.
