Remarks

Nirma University is a decent college. The management is great and strictly abide by the rules. The only drawback of the system was 85% attendance rule. You need to maintain 85% attendance in every subject. And this has to be maintain strictly. Now no matter whether you fall ill or anything, you need to maintain the mark.

Entrance Preview

Admissions in Nirma University are given through JEE Mains rank. 35% of the seats are admitted through JEE Mains. 15% are NRI Sponsored Seats. The rest 50% are the ACPC seats for Gujarat students. I scored 139 in JEE Mains and was admitted in Civil Engineering through All India Rank. I chose this college due to its placement records and its infrastructure.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

The course curriculum is great. You are taught few subjects of every branch in the first year. Personality development is also kept in mind as we have electives of critical thinking, communication skills, yoga, entrepreneurship. Other electives include technical writing, organizational behavior, law for engineers. The course for civil engineering is well designed. We have a laboratory session for two hours every day for most of the subjects. We have 4 hours of lectures and two hours of practicals. The final semester is fully dedicated to practical training where students undergo training at various construction sites.

Internships Opportunities

The college has a placement cell which helps us in providing internships and placements. In civil engineering, most of the internships are unpaid. The companies which came for internships are RKC Infrabuilt, Aarvee Associates and many others.

Placement Experience

4

The placements in civil engineering have been decent. 50% of the candidates have been placed out of 60 eligible students. Companies which came to the campus for civil engineering students were Musigma(21 lakhs over 3 years) , Futures First(12.4 lakhs pa) , TCS(3.5 lakhs pa) , Infosys(3.25 lakhs pa) , Aakash Education Services(6.25 lakhs pa) , Byjus(7 lakhs pa) , Youngman India(3 lakhs pa) , RKC Infrabuilt(3 lakhs pa) , Aarvee Associates(3 lakhs pa) , Career Point (6 lakhs pa).

College Events

5

The events are celebrated throughout the year. There are many clubs which organize their cultural festivals. Technical fest NUTECH is organized by the college. Cultural fests HORIZON is organized by the Rotaract Club of Nirma Institutes. They organize a 3 day national level fest with artists in the college and a concert outside the college. Organising a concert of 20-21 year students is a big thing. The colleges all across Gujarat are covered in the technical and the cultural fests and a footfall of around 8000 is observed.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fee structure of Bachelors in Technology is decent. The tuition fees is 71,300 rupees per semester for 2014-2018 batch. Since there are no hostels in the campus for under graduate students, they have to reside in the nearby PG's which are around 9000 rupees per month.

Fees and Financial Aid

The scholarships and loans are provided on the basis of merit and annual income of the family. I didn't avail any scholarships or loans.

Campus Life

4.5

The gender ratio in B. Tech would be 7:3 (7 boys to 3 girls), while in civil engineering, the ratio is 15:1. Campus life is great but could have been better if the hostels were provided. Workshops happen during the college fests. Extracurricular activities do take place. There are debate, extempore, essay writing, rangoli making and various other extracurricular activities taking place in the campus. We have various sports facilities available. We have a cricket ground, basketball courts, football ground, volleyball courts, lawn tennis courts, badminton courts and indoor games like carrom, chess, table tennis.

Hostel Facilities

3.5

The hostels are not there for the undergraduate students. So, the students have to live in the nearby PG's. The average rental of a 4 sharing AC room is around 9000 per month. The food facilities in the hostels are very poor. Opposite Nirma University is a SwamiNarayan Hostel, SGVP. The food is excellent there but you need to wake up early and do the pooja daily happening at the hostel.

Alumni/Alumna

We have an email id provided by the college which has a database of every college alumni. We can talk to them whenever we want regarding anything. The seniors are very helpful.

Exam Structure

There is a class test, a mid semester exam and a semester end exam of every subject in a semester. Class test is of 1 hour. Mid semester are of 1.5 hours. And sem end exams are of 3 hours. Laboratory Practicals also take place before the sem end exams. We have two class tests and two mid semester in a day. So around 6 subjects get covered in a span of 3 days.

Admission

There is an advertisement in the newspaper regarding the admission link on their website nirmauni.ac.in. I got to know about the college through the newspaper. I filled the form and as the JEE Mains Rank was released, the admission process began. First list was out within a few days of rank declaration. Four lists are released and as you get your name in the list, you are called for a counselling session in which the branches available to you according to your ranks are told. The branch is allotted. Fees for the first semester is to be paid and that's it. Administration is helpful and does not linger on the things unnecessarily.

Faculty

4

Some faculties are too good and would go out of the way to help you. They are very knowledgeable and qualified enough. Some of the teachers prefer blackboard teaching and some of them just use the presentations made by them. Faculties are always there to help you.

Placements are good. Students are eligilble for campus placements from 7th semester. The highest package is 2100000 and the lowest is 200000. The median package is 3.5 to 4.5 lakhs per year. From last two years there was 100% placements but usually its 90%. I plan to pursue pg after this degree in either mtech or mba.
