Course Curriculum Overview
My decision to enrol in my current course was influenced by its compatibility with my JEE rank. The department has taken proactive steps to update its curriculum, seeking input from esteemed faculties at institutions like IIT Kanpur and BHU. This academic year marks a significant transition with the appointment of a new Head of Department known for dynamism and innovation. They are leading initiatives to integrate practical subjects and nurture a culture of creativity.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fee structure for my course at NIT Raipur is designed to accommodate students from various socioeconomic backgrounds. For general and OBC category students with an annual income exceeding 5 lakhs, the tuition fees amount to 72,000 per semester. However, for those with incomes ranging from 1-5 lakhs per annum, the fees are reduced to two-thirds of the tuition fees, easing the financial burden. SC and ST category students are exempt from tuition fees altogether, promoting inclusivity and accessibility. Additionally, all students allocated hostel accommodation must pay an annual fee of 56,000 for hostel facilities, ensuring a comfortable living environment on campus.
Campus Life
The college hosts five major fests from November to March: Vigyaan, Samar, Eklectica, Avinya, and Codeutsava. These festivals showcase students' talents across various domains. The library offers an extensive collection of books, accessible to all, with lending privileges available. Classrooms are spacious, well-ventilated, and equipped with modern amenities like AC, fans, lights, and projectors. The gym operates from 5 pm to 7 pm, managed by the sports committee, with a new sports complex under construction. Hostels feature facilities for badminton, table tennis, and other indoor games, promoting an active lifestyle. The college boasts 23 major clubs and societies, each making a significant impact in its domain. More information about these clubs is available on the college website and Instagram pages, fostering student engagement and participation.
Hostel Facilities
Hostel accommodation at the campus is organized with three students sharing each room, totaling eight hostels: three for girls and five for boys. First-year students reside in four hostels, while second, third, and fourth-year students are allocated to one hostel each. The annual mess fees amount to approximately 54,000 INR. Each room is furnished with three desks, beds, almirahs, two fans, and three tube lights. The mess committee ensures healthy food quality, deciding the menu. Four meals are provided daily: breakfast, lunch, snacks, and dinner. Hostel allotment considers factors like CPI, category, and departmental diversity ratio. Students unable to secure hostel accommodation receive assistance in finding rented PG accommodations nearby.
Admission
The Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) serves as the primary pathway for students aspiring to pursue engineering studies in India. It comprises two main components: JEE Main and JEE Advanced, with the former generally perceived as more accessible than the latter. Eligibility for JEE Advanced is limited to those who have completed Class 12 and one subsequent academic year, whereas JEE Main allows for up to three consecutive attempts.
