Course Curriculum Overview
Its very good. the makers of these courses are from iits, niits, du etc. All the courses are diverse and enriching, touches all the bases clears all doubts. Study mats are really good. Also available in the web. You can download previous years question papers from the web as well.
Internships Opportunities
No. Because it is an open university it has no liability to provide internships. Although you can ask facilities to find something.
Placement Experience
Ignou doesn't provide placements. But there are some opportunities where you can find yourself in an interview. But as a student of open university you may face some hindrances. But if you are persistent enough you will find a job. It may be hard initially.
College Events
Its an open university not much events are celebrated. although sawarswati puja is celebrated through out the day. You will get a holiday only if its national holiday. Apart from that you will get two days off on durga puja. The classes are mostly on weekends so they can't afford much holidays and events.
Fee Structure And Facilities
Its very convenient. The brochure you bought, thats 150 rupees. And you have to pay the semester fees advance. That is of 5000 rupees. There is separate charge for term end exams. 120 rupees for theory papers and 80 rupees for lab papers. If you want to review you paper it will take 750 rupees.
Fees and Financial Aid
Loan can be availed through banks. The semester fees are really less so you don't have to avail loans .If you score above 80% you are eligible for scholarships. I personally didn't have to take loan.
Campus Life
Labs are really good. Computers are well equipped.there is no gender bias. the college provides one on one computer. Hence there are good scope to learn.there is a canteen where you can hang out. All the class rooms have air conditioning systems. My college didn't have a play ground.
Hostel Facilities
There is no such facilities. But you can rent rooms nearby. There are a lot of people staying as paying guest. Ignou mostly rents regular colleges to teach. Saturdays and Sundays when the regular colleges are off, ignou teaches then. The average cost for PGs would be around 6k to 7k.
Alumni/Alumna
There is an alumni page on the website. you can go check the page. Seniors are very helpful they Even guide you through projects, viva exams.
Exam Structure
You have to submit yours assignments in order to be eligible to give exams. The assignments carry 25% of the actual marks and term end exam carries 75% pf the actual marks. In lab exams and assignments there are viva as well. For the final project, which is of 200 marks, 100 marks for project itself and viva of 100 marks.
Admission
First you have to buy the student brochure. You will get all the details in that about ignou. From marks distributions to history and course details. You will get a form inside the brochure all you have to do is to fill out the application. Then get a call to pick student ID card. Or in some cases ignou sends out the student id directly to the student's address.
Faculty
Most of them were good and knowledgeable. The problem is time. The courses are very detailed but because it is an open university there are really less time for teachers to cover the whole syllabus. They put extra effort. They even personally guide you if have any doubt.
