Course Curriculum Overview

2.5

Curriculum is good. Its beneficial for masters as well as for competitive examples. Teachers will teach subject, you need to refer the notes as there is no text books. There is presentation, viva, assignments etc.it will enhance yor learning and communication skills.exams wills conduct at the stipulated time period and easy to crack.

Internships Opportunities

2

Only some department are providing interships like psychology, geology, msw, mass communications etc. Department will not help to find, students have to find their own. There is no much importance for interniships.

Placement Experience

1.5

Only placements is for last year students and thats too for some departments only. The highest package is 7 lacks and average is 2 lack..companies like open source solutions,NGOs and some schools will visit. Only few students are getting placed but it is increasing comparing with previous years.

Fees and Financial Aid

Two types of fees. Even sem and odd sem In even sem fees is low about 2500 and in odd sem abou 5500 .it will vary according to course and year. There is no university level scholarships, fee reduction is for sc,st and pwd students. Mess fees is quit high, but hostel fee is managable.

Campus Life

2

Only one university level festival is for sports and culturals. Different departments will conduct fest like chemistry, economics, psychology etc. Class rooms are okay okay, majority of equipments are not working and lack maintenence . Sports is good comparing with arts.there is no much concentration on arts. NSS and some clubs are working

Hostel Facilities

2

There are currently 4 hostels. In one room 7 to 8 people are there. There is no ac and seperate washrooms.2 washrooms will be in each floor.Mess menu is not so good.Morning breakfast is comparatively good. Getting admitted in hostels is bit tough,as there is numbers of students are high comparing with hostel numbers. There is no pg available nearby, you need to go town which 25 km away from the university.

Admission

For BA Economics, admission is through the CUET exam and eligibility is plus two. Out of 400 my cutoff was 202 and got admission in the second round. Application forms and prospectus can be found on the CU Karnataka website and can apply through the NTA website. Reservation is only for SC/ST and PWD students. The exam is comparatively easy and you need to focus on general as well as subject-related questions. Getting admission is easier if you have a high or medium but you have to wait if your score is low because there is a waiting list and open counselling admissions. After getting admission classes will start early but there is a struggle to get admitted in hostels as hostel size is less compared to student size. So need to adjust it first.

Placement Experience:

The students are eligible to sit for placement in their final years. The companies which comes for the placement are deloitte, goldmanSachs, amazon and many more reputed companies. And they do make many offers. The highest package reports around 30 LPA and the average goes on around 3 to 4.5 LPA. Around 70-90 percent get placements. My plans is to pursue higher studies.

Placement Experience:

Students become eligible for campus placements towards the final semester of their course. Currently, I have only been using the help of my faculty for internship opportunities, since I am not looking for placements. But they have connections with big names in the communication sector, and they often have personalities coming in to give talks and interact with the students. A great number of students opt for placements and approximately 90% of them do end up getting posted at really good companies. Others choose to continue with higher education. My plan after receiving my degree would be to take up a diploma in literature in the UK, while simultaneously finding myself a position at a good publishing house there.

Placement Experience:

From my seniors, I hear that 20/30 % of students from our college get placed. But now being in my final sem I know the reality. For covid and lockdown, the placement sector has been badly hit. Only a handful of companies came this year (5/6 companies). 4/5 people from our batch are placed but no placement for the big chunk of people. From 5th sem students become eligible for placements but in 5th sem, no company came to our college for placement this year. Only in the 6th sem, the placement cell started. Companies that visited till now ( some of them came to take interns and didn't offer full-time jobs) 1) Clevertize, 2) Social Panga, 3) Robert Bosch GmbH, 4) Saatchi & Saatchi, 5) Publicis, 6)PR Pundit, 7) McKinsey, 8) Edsol Edtech, 9) Momo Media, 10) MSL, 11) Genesis BC, Offers: 1.5-3 LPA (average). I plan to send CVs personally to companies through LINKEDIN and other job search platforms because the college hasn't provided us with good placement offers as claimed.
