MBBS is uniform throught the country in all government medical colleges. The course is a long 5.5 years and as for NEIGRIHMS, you get about 1 week of summer vacation and 1 week of winter vacation. Attendance above 75% is a must for theory and 80% for practical, for all 19 subjects. MBBS is the only course that prepares you to become doctors and learn the skills required for patient care so the course is not a easy one. One must know how to handle stress with the vast syllabus and opt for MBBS if you have a strong sense of admiration for the human body and it's care. There is no part that makes the course irrelevant and you are tested throught the year with 2 internal exams, 1 pre University and 1 University exams with roughly 2/3 months in between. University exams usually happen by a month of pre University.

The college gives internships to students who pass final year from this college. It is a 1 year internship with 30k roughly per month, includes posting in all 19 departments along with a month or rural posting in a village, few weeks of rban posting in a state hospital.

The yearly course fee for 2020 batch was 1600 rupees but it has jumped to 16000 for 2021 and all subsequent batches. I am not sure of the detailed structure but other than the mess fee, you don't have any other expenses. The mess fee as of now is 120 rupees per day and is compulsory for everyone, even if you choose to stay outside the hostels. Scholarships are available for respective State quotas and reservations, the college as such does not have any. Campus does not have any employment facilities

If cleanliness and peace is your go to, there rarely can be any campus that beats NEIGRIHMS. Located on the edge of a hill and a reserve forest on one end, you barely feel the harsh pollution of other Indian states. The college fest is called EUPHORIA and it is a 7 day event roughly divided into Literary events, Cultural events, and sports. All local colleges of shillong get included and is a jam packed week. The dynamic is no doubt going to change for the better with the increase in seats per batch from 50 to 100 from 2024 batch. The college was used for Asia games in the past thus has a world-class Basketball court, badminton, swimming pool(not functional), squash court, tennis court, and a newly equipped gym. The Central library is of 3 floors, air-conditioned with 8-10 copies of each book. There is sufficient space and allows students to use it from 9am-9pm on weekdays, 9am-7pm on Saturday and stays closed on Sundays. In addition to this a 30-40 capacity study room 24/7.

Hostels are compulsory for everyone, some local students do stay outside but need to pay the mess fee of 120 rupees per day. Each room in the old hostel has 1 bed, 1 table, 1 cupboard, 2 power sockets, 1 chair and 2 windows. The new hostels provide 1 extra cupboard in addition to the above and also has 2 elevators. Common washrooms with 6 toilet and 6 shower rooms per floor. There is a mess area where food is brought but lucky for us who live in the old boys, food gets cooked here so we're always the first to have it available. The mess is on contact and probably the worst part of the college. The food doesn't taste good half the time and only on regular complaints they revert to improving, for a short while sadly!

The admission to NEIGRIHMS, like any other medical College is via NEET UG exams. The college currently has 50 students per batch which will change to 100 this upcoming batch of 2024. During our admissions the seats were divided as follows- Northeast Quota(18 seats) with ranks between 9k-18k, I personally joined via this at 615 (AIR13000). All India Quota(8 seats) with ranks ranging from 12k-18k. Nagaland quota (9 seats), Mizoram (3seats) which has now been removed for future batches, Arunachal quota (5 seats), meghalaya (9 seats). The eligibility varies for all quotas, for All India quota u need to have applied for the all India councelling, for northeast quota u need to be a recident of 1 of the northeast States. Unsure of the other quotas. Application form is required for all except all India quota which becomes available in the main website of NEIGRIHMS.com The admission process was quite smooth and won't be a hassle, you need to be present in the college during councelling.
