Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

The academic standard of the college is pretty good with all facilities and good patient load. The academic campus and hospital campus is separated so the campus is very peaceful. The strictness is adequate with good support from many, if not all teachers. College is also free from any political influence which also makes the campus very peaceful.

Internships Opportunities

3.5

All the students get internship which is compulsory after 4 yrs of studying. Stipend is around 28K. After internship, some students can apply for housestaffship which offers a salary of around 40K. But the housestaffship seats are limited and only half the students get that, and is based on your results in 3rd proff part 1 and 2

Fees and Financial Aid

CNMC comes under WBUHS so all Govt colleges under west bengal have same fees. The per month tuition fees is Rs750 and per month hostel fees is just Rs12, excluding the food cost which is per meal based. Hence every year the tuition fees costs around 8-10K. The library fees and security deposit is one time fees in first year which is again less than 10K. In internship as of 2023 the Govt stipend is of around 28K.

Campus Life

5

CNMC is most famous for its social activities. We have the best and biggest fest among all the medical colleges of East India, AGON. Apart from this we have freshers, Saraswati puja, Reunion, Holi, Convocation, Diwali, New year's Party every year and a month long of competitions before AGON. So almost every month we have some event coming up which all students look forward to. The college library is average though. It has good variety of book but limited stock of books. So most of the book can be issued for reading , home issues are for very limited books. But overall it's good. The classrooms are well equipped with good technology, we have 5 lecture halls and 3 Examination halls. The auditorium is pretty big and can accomodate around 500-700 students at a time.

Admission

CNMC is a Govt Medical College in Beniapukur, Park Circus area of Kolkata. It ranks 4th in Kolkata. You have to get NEET 14-15K all India rank in general category and West Bengal Rank of 600-700 to get a seat. The admission process is smooth and takes place under the West Bengal Health University. Admission process begins around 10days after the Neet results are announced, first there is verification of the documents ( including your domicile, Id proofs, class 10th and 12th results, all other documents are mentioned when you apply for verification). After your succesful verification, a state merit list is uploaded within 4-5 days. Then you have to apply for counselling and give your colleg priority list. Then the process is just same as all India counselling. You have to take admission in the very first round, if the seat gets upgraded you will just have to collect the documents from previously alloted to your newly allotted college.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course is completely based on NMC new guidelines. Along with the theory classes where we know the structure and their working in dissection we actually see them on cadaver . Lectures should be more interesting as it's get boring to literally listen the concepts for first time like a story and at the end we forget everything

Course Curriculum Overview:

Medical field is a really good field in my opinion to serve humankind and learn about science of nature and life!the curriculum is a little overpaced and there are 19 subjects which are taught in a timespan of 4.5 years which is a bit hectic! There are 4 professional exams and 9 semesters which have pretty good difficulty and assess our skills and education. We have regular examinations in around 4-5 months each. Only thing id like to change in the curriculum is better assessment of many topics which are taught pretty well but aren't examined much leading us to waste our time in focussing on them.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Well, mbbs is very hard and long term process. You will be bored in 1st year because you cant get real clinical cases. But in Final year, 3rd Prof Part 2, you will get huge pressure. Because there are total 11 subjects, you should study in final year. It is a great burden for all. I'm not satisfied with Nmc curriculum. They are not thinking about students. They are implement their rules in chilled ac room. But they don't know the real scenarios.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum is quite planned and great and has a lot of advantages in having a clinical and learning diagnostic approach to various diseases. One area where the curriculum can improve is by having more practical classes rather than theoretical classes. The exams are quite difficult but are quite planned to make you understand the clinician and the passing percentage is 50 percent.
