- The thing I liked the most till date is the hangout and trips with my friends, their interaction and close bonds which have developed with time.
- The placement and brand which IIT Delhi brings on the table is again one of the most likable things according to me.
- The next thing is infrastructure development. One can get connected with metro, cabs, online deliveries, and everything in the campus.
Dislikes
- The professors and teaching assistants are too much annoying sometimes when it comes to course evaluation.
- 75% attendance is mandatory which is sometimes suffocating.
- Grading policy by the professors are too rough sometimes.
Course Curriculum Overview
Curiculum is quite chilled as compared to other. The curiculum helps me in getting the expertise of the chemical engg plants and its functioning. Teaching is quite less attractive, attendance of 75% is must. Exams and quizzes happen every month, sometimes its tough and sometimes its easy based on the class notes.
Internships Opportunities
The companies which come on the campus are of varied range. Top to bottom companies from tech, consulting, finance and core fields come to hire the interns. Day 1 and Day 2 companies give the highest offers. Alphagrep, DE Shaw, Hindustan Unilever Ltd, Bain & Co are few examples of companies coming during intern season. One need to have good expertise in the field they are interested to apply for.
Placement Experience
Placement season starts in November every year after the 7th semester, which is the most hectic time period of one student in entire college time. The companies which come are big enough, for e.g. from Google to Mackenzie to Microsoft to Bain & Co. comes to our campus. Though recession has hit the placements but the package offered are still good. last year highest package was 1.8 Cr CTC(abroad) and 1.4 Cr CTC(home) and average was around 12-13 lacs. Almost 80-85% of the students get placed in the entire season.
Fees and Financial Aid
The course is costly for a middle class family. Every year the complete cost comes out to 3-3.2 lacs apart from other facilities availed in the campus. This fees include mess as well as course fee. The sudden increase n the fees over past few years has increased the burden on the students and their family. Financial aid are mostly available for low income class people.
Campus Life
The overall campus life till date is pretty good. Many students from different parts of India come and live together in the hostels which help a person to see the perspective of other parts of India. The fests held are awesome, include tech and cultural fests which are held at a very large scale. The facilities provide in the classroom is decent enough. Also the sports and extra-curricular activities have a very wide range.
Hostel Facilities
Room provided is on okayish level. One gets a bed, chair, an almirah and a study table when one enters into a room. Its not too big nor too small. The adjustment happens with time.The meal quality varies here.Sometimes its pretty good and sometimes its average. Though menu feels repittive sometimes, it has good range of food roducts. The hostel is registered when one applies for the jee adv program counseling and I feel the hostel is affordable.
Admission
It required me to pass the Jee advanced exam. Application form on jee advanced official site, application fees 35000(33000to be returned after cutting 2000). Reservation helped me getting the branch of chemical engineering. Jee adv occurs every year and its quite difficult.
