Course Curriculum Overview
The courses offered by the Department of Mechanical Engineering in Sardar Vallabhbhai National Institute of Technology are related to producing engineers in the mechanical field by provinding subjects such as Heat Transfer, Thermodynamics, Fluid Mechanics, Metallurgy etc.
Internships Opportunities
The college provides many internship opportunities to the students for research interships under highly qualified faculty (professors) as well as industries such as ONGC and L&T are nearby providing industrial internships to the interested students.
Placement Experience
Students become eligible for internships form the ending of second year where as the for campus placements eligibity is 7th semester. Companies visiting for recruitment are John Deere, L & T, ONGC, TCS, Infosys are some of the major recruiters.
Fees and Financial Aid
Tuition fee is near about 65,000 for a semester which is returned in the form of fee waiver for students with family income below 5,00,000 etc. The hostel fee and mess fee are combinedly near about 50,000 for a year which is quite affordable. Campus placements offers good employment to the students completing the courses.
Campus Life
Campus life is quite normal. There are no provisional stores in the college. The college is spreaded in 250 acres which is a huge area. The college is situated in the posh area of Surat city hence availability to goods and services is easy.
Hostel Facilities
Some of the hostels are newly built and hence have amazing rooms. The rooms are provided with proper lighting and ventilation. Hostels except first year hostel have balconies in every room. Food quality provieded by the mess can be said that it is not so good but not so bad too.
Admission
Admission in every NIT is done on the basis of JEE Mains result which was the same for me. The admission is done by JOSAA counseling process which completes in 6 rounds after which physical reporting is to be done.
