Svnit(pov of 1st year)

I have opted for B. Tech from the DoME, was always intrested to learn about the mother of all branches, that's how the saying goes. Here at svnit, academics is really well managed, the mid sems are actually taken in mid only, unlike some different cllgs. I they need to cover there course, they even make saturday and sunday working. The teaching quality can be increased, to that students come to attend classes out of interest, not for only attendance

Placements are decent here at svnit. Not so dreamy or a nightmare. Regarding the mechanical, they are very good in terms of other nits. Mechanical here is the oldest and one of the best. If one is interested in core, he/she can consider svnit.

Can't really comment about the hike, but to break down the fees of 1st year, it is: Admission and tuition : 99k Hostel and mess (sem1) : 37.3k Tuition (sem2) :70k Mess(sem2) :19.5k There are multiple scholarships available for the students, but they have to find for which they are eligible by themselves. They are provided with a list of scholarship thru which they can find.

Campus life is almost similar to what one have imagined before comming to an nit. We have a technical fest ( Gujarat's biggest technical fest) called mind bend. Our annual fest name is Sparsh. Talking about the classrooms, they are quite disappointing. You hardly get to sit in your department building in 1st year. And the departmental building of mechanical is also not good. The common classroom building is also non functional and new one is under construction. Overall infra is mid.

1st year hostel's name is gajjar bhavan. It's quite good and provides every thing necessary. Lan connection, electricity water supply sometimes may trouble you but the majority of time, they work just fine. The mess is good (one of the best in all nits) But obviously in the end... It's mess and not home cooked food, so don't have very high expectations.

The admission process took around 4-5 hours, all the documents verification was strict. I applied here through the csab councilling, for which I had to clear jee mains. You can check the cutoffs online and for reference, my jee mains rank was 26208. The only discomfort was finding the building where the admissions were going, expected it to be in administration building but they conducted it in electrical department.
