College time - Golden time

On the scale of 10 i would rate my course and curriculum as 8. Every course has its own pros and cons. I always found my course interesting enough as it connects me to the real world application and provides me the exposure to actually process how things work. However I believe that there is a requirement for improvement in teaching methods. Presentation method has ruined everything. Conservative method of teaching on black or white board was the best where student and teacher was able to connect with each other. In a college exams take place almost every month. This becomes a habit eventually but it's challenging sometimes because with extra curricular activities it is sometimes difficult to manage.

Our college has a decent placement record. 5th semester students are eligible for internship and then from 7th semester placement occurs. However, placement record is different for different branches. Like computer science and engineering is always known for its best placement records but it is not the case with other branches. ECE and electrical also have decent placements but the other core branches like mechanical, civil, chemical and materials struggle with the placements. Specifically civil engineering has average package of 6-7 lakhs which is quite less. For cse companies like Amazon, Google, Microsoft, Gold sach and such companies visit and in my branch companies like L&T, Reliance, Flipkart neev such companies visits. In civil engineering, last year around 40% students got placed. My future plan is to secure a job and prepare for civil services along with the job. Highest package last year was 14lakhs per annum and lowest was 5 lakhs per annum.

For a person like me who do not avail any sort of reservation, there comes a financial burden. But thankfully I'm provided with a scholarship called MMVY which helps me throughout the year to pay my fees. I am required to pay an amount of 1.7lakhs every year. Though it is less than any private colleges but it is still high amount for me. I have not observed a hike in tution fees since I have taken an admission in the college but I am against the frequent hikes in tution policy. However there are many scholarships provided by different organisation and government in benefit of students.

Every student after joining college wants to explore as much as possible. There are different clubs and societies in my college which allows us to explore more and more. There are fests which are organised by student council every year, mainly tech fest and cultural fest. Tech fest is usually held in November and cultural fest is held in March. Every art and talent is welcomed. We have the central library which is the best thing in the college. It is a hug library which allows us to get lost in the books. Thankfully we can access all types of books in the library, infact I always issue my subjects books from the library to study. Also the calm and peace environment is so soothing here. We have a sports complex and teams for every game and inter college and inter branch competition every semester. All these extra curricular activities plays an important role in building our overall personality.

Our girls hostel is recently build and it is new. So infrastructure here is all new and fresh and unused which is the best thing happened with us. We are double sharing rooms where we are provided with a table , chair, bed, fan and almirah. However, we struggle almost daily with the quality of meals provided here, which is not as good as expected. Registration process for hostel was also not so cumbersome, it was almost smooth but there were so many girls and crowd which was challenging for hostel staff to manage. In our hostel we have gym room, tv room, basketball court, badminton court, tennis court ,vending machine and a garden. Also there are no restrictions in our hostel for keeping induction or iron or any high loading device. I am talking about the campus hostel. Also I'm quite satisfied with the hygiene maintanence. Only problem we face here is the quality of food which is disappointing. Otherwise everything is well and fine.

Admission process was tiring enough but not very complex. I already read all the instructions after JOSAA counseling and my college provided a clear set of guidelines for admission process. Application form and last dates everything was mentioned on the college website and as I do not avail any reservation benefits i did not worry about that. We were required to submit all the documents through speed post because unfortunately we took admission during corona. But i guess the offline process must be quite tiring because you need to contact different departments for different things. Online process was quite easy for us.
