Course Curriculum Overview
It is a semester based course. Classes is not a common thing in this course. Students spend most of their time interacting with patients. There are a very few classes held after the 1st semester.
Internships Opportunities
After 3 year of your course there is another one year you have to spend as an intern which is compulsory for everyone pursuing the course . To get the degree you have to do a project in your internship year .
Fees and Financial Aid
The tuition fee for the first year is 3030 rupees which is taken during the counselling After that in 2nd year or the 3rd semester you have to give examination fee which is 500 rupees per subject this also don't exceed 3000. For the stipend it is a problem right now because there is only 500 rupees per month which is a very small amount considering the work students have to do.
Campus Life
There are fests organised by the different associations of the pgimer. They are held between October to December . There are different activities , competitions held and many things. There are sports and extracurricular activities held in campus.
Admission
B.optometry is one of the paramedical courses. There is an entrance exam conducted by the pgimer. There is an online application for the entrance exam on the pgimer Chandigarh website. The entrance examination fee is around 2000 rupees for general category. For other categories it is less than 2000. There are seats reserved for a few categories. The exam conducted is CBT (Computer based). The difficulty level is not so high for the exam. It includes biology, chemistry, physics of +2 level and few gk questions. Cutoff is usually high for general category around 92 percentile for first round of counselling.
