BITS - PILANI: The beauty of freedom

The curriculum is at par with industry standards and BITS gives its students lots of freedom including the well known 0% attendance policy so that you can focus on whats important to you and instead of going to classes. The curriculum and labs are very good and top of the standards The frequency of exams is good and difficulty is at level with what has been taught. We get tutorial sections where we can practice the questions of the course

BITS is considered an expensive college. The tuition fee is almost 5-6 Lakhs/year. with increase of 5-10% every year. Also we have to pay additional charges for Practice Schools (internships) and Mess and Hostel. Complete cost is around 28 Lakhs. BITS provides scholarships of two types: Merit and Merit Cum Need (MCN) . If you are in the top 2% of your class you get 40% off on your tuition fee. For MCN if your family income is less than 11lakhs per annum. You get 80-25% off on fee depending on your CGPA. If you have good grade in a course you can apply for Teaching Assistant of the course under the professor and earn around 5000/month for 4 months.

There are 3 main fests in a year: ATMoS - Technical Fest held in November. Then ARENA - Sports Fest held in February and then the most hyped PEARL - The Cultural Fest with a budget of 1.5 Crores. BITS has a world class library with a huge collection of books you can read and issue. BITS provides top class infrastructure and a feature to record the lectures using IMPARTUS which students can watch at a later time and dont miss their lecture. Also the BITS -WIFI is spread across the campus and has good internet speeds. BITS has all the sports facilities with basketball courts to squash courts to swimming pool. You can be part of the 120 clubs on campus according to your hobbies or learn new skills when the various clubs hold workshops to teach their skills. Also there are student run social service clubs like NSS and Enactus which are very active and visit orphanage and various places to help the students

We have to clear BITSAT exam and according to it the cutoff is released. Eligibility is you should have maximum 75% in Boards in PCM SUBJECTS. The form is available on Bits Pilani website. BITS Pilani does not have Reservations policy. BITSAT is conducted twice a year. Difficulty is more than Boards but less than JEE Main. Management of conducting exam should be improved and cheating should be reduced.
