All You Should Know About NIT Raipur

As I am a 2nd year undergraduate in the Mechanical Engineering department at NIT Raipur. As we all know core subjects are introduced from 3rd semester onwards and the core of Mechanical is relatively tougher than other branches of subjects. The curriculum is also somewhat hectic and lengthy. Although faculties are supportive and well-behaved. Our department professors are friendly with students. Almost 6-7 hours a day you will have classes. And you have to attend two labs in a week. Saturday and Sunday will be a holiday and you will get enough time to work on other placement-related skills and also for enjoyment

We have to do occasional training in 2nd year and internships in 3rd year. Internships are provided by our College . Many companies visits our College to hire interns and the provide PPOs to them. If you are intrested in core, there are companies that give core internships that are project-based. I am doing an Internship in the Bhilai Steel plant. You have to do a compulsory internship in 3rd year from your core branch. The college will provide NOC and LOR for the internships and you can do project-based internships in many IITs also.

Placement of our College is very good and it competes with top NITs and IITs . Apart from Non core placements , core placements are also very well. Average package of or college is about 10 lpa. And cor branches like CSE or IT , it is 17 lpa. It is a quite decent package. Companies that visits our College are Adobe, DE Shaw, Dboi, Sprinkler , Delloit etc are for noncore . And for core companies like Vedanta, Schlumburger, JSW etc are major recruiters. About more than 82% of people get placed who sits in placements. My plan is to work as a Software Developer after getting a degree.

Fee structure for normal General candidate whose family income is greater than 8 lpa , will be around 1.5 lakhs per year. But I am an EWS candidate , my family income is less than 1 lakh per year , so I have to pay only 10,800 per year . I avail scholarship through NSP portal around 1lakh and also other scholarships etc. Our College fees is very affordable compared to other colleges (NITs or IITs). Our campus provides good placement opportunities and internships

Our College is located at the main City of Raipur , and it cover around 90 acres of land ,due to its prime location you will have availability of all the resource like hospital, railway station, daily need shops, bus stand etc. Our College infrastructure is good.We have two buildings, one is main building and other is Architecture building. There are a lot of clubs and commities are present in our College , where you can join and work for various events organised by them .This will helps you in your personality development and also can improve your management skills.

Getting a hostel in NIT Raipur is tough , because hostel seats are limited and you have to study hard to get into hostel. You will get hostel in merit basis . For a general candidate your CPI must be around 8.7+ to get into hostel . You will get mess food , wifi and triple sharing room in hostel. The room is very spacious , you can manage easily and chill with your roommates . The hostel fees costs 55000 per year . Quality of mess food is not up to the marks , you have to compromise with the mess food taste .

Admission process is a very hectic process, you have to first clear jee mains and clear the cutoff for admission in NIT Raipur. As I am a general EWS student so , I avain the reservation benefits and also my tution fess is also reduced . You have to first apply for counselling in Josaa portal and then when you are alloted a college After that you have to go for physical verification with required documents. This physical verification process will be just after the CSAB counselling , so be ready with all the documents required which is provided in institutes website.
