Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

New CBME based curriculum seems to have some improved aspects of the clinical knowledge for the MBBS student. Also by visiting the indian governments health programmes we know the hierarchy of the medical services in our nation.

Internships Opportunities

4

The internship is done in the hospital of the institution which is a government aided hospital which has a lot of patient inflow and all the necessary procedures are done here for well being of the patient, if there is a critical patient which cant be cured here then he/she is referred to the better hospitals of ahmedabad. Our institutes hospital also served a critical role during corona pandemics.

Fees and Financial Aid

If the college is semi government that's why i have to pay the fee of 3,30,000. Which is a large amount for most Indian households. I also get a scholarship from the government of Gujarat named " MYSY ". They provide half of my fees, which is instead of one year of service in the posted government hospital after the completion of the course. With this scholarship, the family feels less burdened by the fees. Other scholarship cum loans are also available but they demand property in security which is not possible for me.

Campus Life

3

GMERS VADNAGAR has the best hostel for students I have seen in all the Gujarat medical colleges. We get a nice atmosphere all around the year, and the beauty is enhanced by the nearby "Sharmistha Lake" & "Kirti Toran ". The college have one huge ground for the cricket and which integrate also have volleyball court and football ground. Also there is separate two courts for badminton between the college buildings for avoiding the wind. The institute also has a huge library for all the necessary books and journals for medical studies, which can be issued for 10 10-day periods. There is also a separate computer lab for the practice of the online examinations for post-graduate studies. A full AC library is also open 12 hours for all the students with proper furnishing and facilities. The only problem in the institution is the food. All the mees we have don't provide the quality food and also the nearby restaurants don't provide the good food. The canteen of the college is also okayish.

Hostel Facilities

4

The room has two beds, but without the mattress, we have to bring ours to the hostel, which is an irritating thing. The electricity is proper and the fans and lights are of good quality also they are repaired or replaced by the institution if they are bad. Hostel registration is done during the main admission process, which is helpful and less tiring. The atmosphere of the rooms is good with well lighting and ventilation. Also, all the rooms have a balcony, which is useful for clothes drying or for just relaxing purposes.

Admission

NEET examination is compulsory for admission to MBBS. After the exam, the state council starts the admission process, following the central council admission process. Merit is declared, and the admissions to colleges are according to it. At 501/720 marks in NEET, I got admission to GMERS MEDICAL COLLEGE VADNAGAR. The student has to visit the college for the document verifications, which seems to be the irritating part of admission that now can be done online. I also availed myself of the benefit of the OBC reservation. The course of MBBS is difficult compared to all the higher education study courses. There are mainly four exams: two internal exams, one preliminary exam, and one university exam. The departments also held their separate part-ending examinations. MCI should focus on the well-being of the medical students and include the necessary activities that help them relieve the stress of the study and also improve the examination process in post graduation.
