Course Curriculum Overview
The Department of Statistics in Asutosh College is one of the oldest in calcutta and also this college is very well known for the well versed curriculum of Statistics and its faculty members. 5-6 colleges in Calcutta provide Statistics as a subject and this college is one of them. They conduct seminars on different topics for our exposure and also provide us real world aspects of studying statistics.
Fees and Financial Aid
The course fees is very less compared to other colleges which is a good thing about this college and there are many scholarships available for the students, both from centre and state, and campus employment opportunities are decent. Now a days pursuing only bachelor degree and hoping to get a good job is just a myth, so its better if you go for masters and then find your desired job.
Campus Life
My overall experience of the campus is well enough considering the fees and the course it offers. There's a canteen, a common library and also departmental libraries and laboratories with well equipped machineries, a gym and also the classrooms are well maintained. This college provides a lot of opportunities to showcase your extracurricular activities in different fields, events are organised frequently so that the students not only excel academically but also prosper in different field of extracurricular activities. There are different clubs and groups like dancing club, photography club, social work club, painting club,etc in which you can join your desired club and prosper in that field.
Admission
Eligibility Criteria : Candidate must have atleast 50% marks in class 12th examination from recongnised board with Mathematics as a subject. Selection : Merit list based on the candidates’ score in top four subjects in the qualifying exam(HSC). Candidates can find the application details on the college website notice board(also under admission tab) and once the dates are declared by CU, application forms are also available on the college website. The faculty members are well educated and also good tutors, they help us whenever we face any difficulty in solving something or having any sort doubts, they conduct exams regularly, for keeping a check on our academical progress, with standard level of difficulty which we can expect from CU in semester examinations.
