Experience at IISER

College management is good but scholarships which are provided are less in number and increasing fees.

I am very fond of Nature and knowing about it. I love to study physics and especially was interested in Astrophysics and astronomy. So for that IISER was the perfect platform which could furnish my career. I was interested in learning pure sciences which was available at IISER Mohali.

Course is basically divided into two halves. First being the BAchelors BS and other being Masters MS. Here in the first two yrs you need to study all the subjects Biology , chemistry, physics and mathematics. But in the third year, you can choose your majors.

Yes, you can do Internship at IISER Mohali easily. Before that you have to write a mail and it should be approved by the guide you would like to work under. IISER M also provides stipend and overall experience would be great.

Since people here are studying pure sciences and these people generally prefer studying in much detail rather than persuimg a job, so job opportunities are generally less . Still there are placements where a student could go and get approved. Placement cell takes care of all these.

There are a whole lot of events which happen at iiser mohali. The grant colllege fest and in between celebrations of different festivals at iiser Mohali is a great experience. People participation is huge and different companies host these events. Food stalls are also arranged.

The Fee structure is feasible if you are from a middle-class family. Fees were initially less but now they are bit expensive but still less than all other national colleges. Moreover, scholarships are also provided to student to make use of that in paying fees.

Iiser Mohali is funded by MHRD and DST. So scholarships are provided by them and there is particular cut off CPU you need to clear every year.

Campus life is great experience and iiser Mohali is full of flora and fauna. Moreover being located near the city, markets are walking distance away from college. Gender ratio is nearly 3:2 which is great. Different co curicular actuvities are also here to enhance students.

Hostel facilities are great at iiser mohali. We are provided with hostel on sharing purposes and after 2nd year all are provided with single rooms. Mess food are great and there is a menu on everyday basis. There is also a variety of food with changing seasons.

Alumini network is not that great but still students come from different areas to visit and experience the opd memories.

Exam structure is nice at IISER mohali. But it is bit hectic too. Exams happens in 3 categories mid sem 1 and mid sem 2 and finally end sems which all college generally have. But there is only one month gap between exams so we get very less time studying.

I got admission at IISER through an entrance exam IISER aptitude test. There were 3 channels opened fpr students to join IISER: KVPY stream, JEE stream and SCB ie Boards and depending on the cut offs for each of the stream students are admitted to IISER

Faculty at IISER mohali are great. They are already well established in their streams and now are teaching at IISER mohali. They also attend and give seminars and so that a student could well understand the concepts. They have a great mindset and take care of everyone.
