- The placement cell has some weird rules regarding the packages and tiers.
Course Curriculum Overview
The EEE department is one of the founding branches of BMSCE and has been active since 1946. It has maintained its relevance amidst competition from other universities and institutions. The curriculum for the program is not the most up-to-date syllabus out there. It is lacking in a lot of practical experiences and emphasises theoretical learning more. There were 3 internal exams and one semester-end exam for each semester. The internals would generally happen every 1 - 1.5 months or so.
Internships Opportunities
Plenty of companies and organisations visit the campus for placements opportunities. The packages for IT are obviously higher than Core but there are still quite a few core companies coming in. Although this number is going down.
Placement Experience
The placements in my college were good for my year but went downhill for the junior batch (for core companies). The packages for core range from 4LPA to 17LPA. For software it ranges from 4LPA to 30LPA. In EEE and in my batch there were almost 80-90% students placed.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fee structure for my seat was very generous which averaged out to around Rs. 35,000 per year over 4 years but this was because it was a govt. merit seat. There were no significant hikes in the fee through the 4 years. There are scholarships available through the department for high achievers and rank students. The college does provide placement opportunities for its students and the placement cell is pretty effective. But, lately, the placements are leaning increasingly towards IT and software and moving away from core companies.
Campus Life
Although the campus has a smaller footprint than many other colleges out there, it has a bustling social presence as it is situated in the middle of the city's hotspot. There are multiple canteens within the college and plenty of eateries around the college. There are also plenty of clubs to have fun in an extra-curricular fashion and there are two fests conducted per year. The college also has an indoor stadium and an outdoor field for sports and conducts sports meets frequently.
Admission
My admission was done through K-CET and I availed a govt. merit seat with a rank of 2461 in EEE at BMSCE. The entire admission process took less than a day and included opening a bank account on campus to pay your fee for the first year. The first-year fee included both KEA fees and the college fees for that year. You can also join BMSCE through COMED-K, and by availing a management quota seat.
