Course Curriculum Overview
Usually, the way everyone chooses their degree is based on the package. Computer science had the highest amount of money but it wasn't something that I found interesting and you can learn that stuff any time in life. It's not easy to survive Electrical without any interest in it. So my next option was Mechanical and I did not find any issues with it. The Mechanical professors go in-depth and give us a lot of assignments, lab sessions, and projects to make sure we understand all the concepts properly. But it does make the course more time consuming and difficult. Each semester is four months and Quiz 1 is at the end of the first month, Quiz 2 at the end of the second and End Semester exam in the end.
Internships Opportunities
The Placement Cell helps with the placement and internships and the list of companies associated with them each year can be found in their website. For projects, so many professors give out opportunities to join them on their projects and research papers, including yrf platform.
Placement Experience
Placements are usually really good in our college. So many people competing to join our college is usually for this reason. but for this last year, because of the economy, the placements wasn't that good. the highest package is around a crore. around 50 percent of students get placements usually but not last year
Fees and Financial Aid
The tuition fees never gave me any issues and since it is a government college, the fees were reasonable compared to other private colleges. For the whole thing, it might cost me around 1 lakh only academically. i got benefitted from the reservation when it came to fees. i don't have any responsibility in campus.
Campus Life
our cultural festival is called Saarang and it is usually held in January. the tech fest is called Shaastra and it is also held in January. The entrepreneurship Cell's Fest is in March. The institute open house is also in March. Department fest happen all throughout the year. The most noteworthy department fests are Mechanica by Mechanical Engineering Department and Oceana by Ocean Engineering Department. A lot of books are available in our library and there are a lot of facilities, classrooms and clubs which you can see in our iitm website on a single google search. it is true that iitm life is stressful but it also gives us a lot of opportunities to make our resume better and to develop all kinds of skills.
Hostel Facilities
The one complaint i would have about IITM would be the hostel and mess systems. We used to live in our hostels with monkeys for months until they fixed that issue. And the monkeys were unusually violent. The mess food also gave us food poisoning a lot of times. The timings should also be extended. Overall it is also quite expensive. 40000 per semester. including vacation fees but they would ask for vacation fees separately sometimes too. We have to pay the fees in advance or we wont get to access our rooms or mess food.
Admission
getting into IIT was a dream come true but the application process was a rollercoaster. Eligibility: I needed to clear both JEE mains and advanced to qualify for the JOSAA Application Process. Filling Applications: There's a deadline for application and there are different application fees for each category, the details can be found on the JOSAA Website and JEE Advanced Website. It usually starts in December but for my batch, it ended up being late and started in April or something. I availed the SC candidate benefits with lower cutoffs and fees. Both exams were difficult but I got qualified for JEE Advanced in my second Mains attempt and cleared JEE Advanced after The overall process was stressful, especially the document verification part after I got IIT Madras
