Course Curriculum Overview
In our course, similar to Delhi University's, we mainly study foreign-authored books but also use indigenous resources. Our supportive teachers emphasize writing, presentation skills, and assist with internships. The syllabus prepares us well for future careers in psychology. Exams are challenging due to external question setting and grading, but practical and mid-semester tests are easier as teachers set questions. Some new teachers lack engagement, leading to low attendance. Overall, the teaching staff and course quality are satisfactory.
Fees and Financial Aid
The reservation system of which we apply to our college and more to the students who have taken admission through reservation are given, have less fees than rest of the students. The basic fees as per to my knowledge is about 3000 or 4000. Apart from that there are several other self-financing courses which may range up to a lakh or something. And there are law courses in our college that also may range up to 1 lakh, 50,000 to 1 lakh. This is just an assumption. I am not sure if it is 1 lakh or not. Most of the students that are in my course have to pay about 2000 or 3000 rupees each year for their, as their admissions,as their fees. A very minimal amount of re-admission fees is taken. And again, students who are not financially bright are given ample of opportunities to get scholarships, to get several aids from the college.
Campus Life
In our government college, festivals like Ganesh Pooja and Saraswati Pooja are celebrated as per student requests. The annual function is currently on hold due to some political issues. However, we have departmental farewells, seminars, and international seminars, along with blood donation and Red Cross Society camps regularly. The college offers various clubs and activities like music, dance, acting, Red Cross Society, NSS, and NCC, as well as drama club for competitions. I've participated in many extracurricular events like essay writing, debates, posters, dance, music, and skits.
Admission
In Odisha, for graduation admissions, we use a website called SAMS. You get to pick four to five colleges you prefer. Most people go for their first choice. Then, they sort students based on their marks. There are usually three to four admission phases. In the first phase, those with high scores, like above 90% or 85%, get their first choice college. They're stuck with this choice unless they take admission in the assigned college. After that, they can request a change, but only after securing admission in the initially assigned college.
