Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

Bsc honours agriculture is a 4 year course which is a professional degree. First year will teach you the basics and will not enter into the core. In the second year onwards we will be in the agriculture core syllabus.there is a North india and South India educational tour which is the part of the syllabus make the course attractive to students. It also have a lot of practical exposure in the fields which will be good for those have interest in this field. 4th year will have RAWE and projects which gives us exposure to the syllabus and jobs.upto 3 years there will be a tight sem of 5.5-6months with approximately 2-2.5 months having exams time in which there is midterm practicals and university exams

Internships Opportunities

3

There will be a dual degree program associated with Western Sydney University, Australia which provides the students to have exposure in international level. Various research institutions in agriculture like CIMMYT, Mexico are recruiting students for internship from our college to give them experience in the year after graduation

Fees and Financial Aid

There will be semester fees which is 15000 for first sem of an year and approx 2500 for the next sem for registration .As it is a residential course most of the students will be in hostel. Thus we have to pay hostel fee of 16000 for mess in each sem. But we have some other expenses beyond the course fees for our practical assignment and record works. There is Egrants for obc students and various scholarships for economically backward students

There is a good exposure for practical experiences and there is events conducting by the students union. There will be sports day in the intercollege and interbatch level. Arts also in interbatch and intercollege in the even semestets of the year. There are groups like ecell, iedc to promote entrepreneurs in the agriculture sector

First years are isolated for anti ragging period. But there is not enough room facilities as the no of students increased. One room have 4 people in our year.Room have enough size and facilities. Mess is also good compared to some other hostels

Admission

Admission was through neet exam. I got a mark of 496 out of 720 in neet exam and entered this mark in keam portel to get admission in Kerala colleges and secured admission in College of Agriculture, Vellayani in second call. We have to register in both keam portel and neet portel. Keam application is necessary for getting admission in Kerala colleges and it can be applied through www.cee kerala.gov.in.Icar exam can also be applied to secure admission in agriculture all over India. I am a general category student and i want to secure minimum 480-490 for securing admission here. Whoever want seat for mbbs, bds, agriculture, veterinary all can apply for these exams

Course Curriculum Overview:

The Curriculum is very vast and i hope it is filtered. But the new admission hqs got a very new curriculym with more in person experience courses, which is better in my opinion. I do wish that some courses are changed or added to ours too including AI as it is of rising inpprtance in all sectors. The schedule is very hectic so it could be tweaked a bit to accomadate some relax time for the students.Other than that i belive that the scheduling and curriculum is good. The frequency of examination is okay...but the mark system is very complex. So good marks has to acheieved in almost all the semesters so that a good OGPA can be recueved.

Remarks:

Unscientific increase in the number of seats in the college is a problem here. There is no increase in the facilities required with the increase in seats. This creates problems as there is no adequate lab facilities and hostel facilities for the increased number.
