Remarks

Being a Chandigarh centralised college , there were times when students suffered due to managements complacency but those were rare occurrences.

Entrance Preview

Two of my relatives had been pass outs of this college and they told me a lot of good things about this place. I got the opportunity to pick Computer Science which was my primary choice at the time of counselling. 4 years went by so quick as it was a fun place to be at.

Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

Even though it might seem in 2018 that we were being taught all the outdated technologies. But that is the norm in every college. The course was pretty much standard stuff, with some subjects which stood out like computer graphics and Artificial Intelligence.

Internships Opportunities

No, but the college supported students who opted for internships on their own in less known companies.

Placement Experience

3

Out of the 1000 students appearing for placements from our college alone, 70-80% got decent placements. Other college students were also invited to appear and compete in the job fairs. Many big companies like Microsoft and Delloitte come every year to hire some of the best students.

College Events

4.5

There are 2 major events in our college, one is a cultural event which happens around March-April, and a technical event around Sept-Oct every year. The technical event is sometimes accompanied by a an Mechanical event which hosts multiple colleges in which teams compete by making efficient 2-3 wheelers which use environment friendly energy sources.

Fees and Financial Aid

I was from a economically weaker family , so i got full waiver on my tuition fees. I ended up paying just under Rs 1 lakh for the degree including the different fees. Many scholarships are also provided for deserving students.

Campus Life

3

The whole college was always buzzing with joy wherever you may look. Students hung out at corners of the building and stayed for hours. Gender ratio was good and diversity was in plenty as the college had no state quota so students from multiple states were in the same classes.

Hostel Facilities

3

The hostel just next to our college was inaugurated the year we started our course and i had multiple friends living there as i was a day scholar. The rooms were a bit small and the food was just average. The students were left with no choice, either eat the not so amazing food or eat somewhere costly.

Alumni/Alumna

I regularly get contacted by the Alumni committee of the college which was set up in my last year as the college was fairly newly built.

Exam Structure

We have 2 sessional (mid-term) exams, of 30 marks, at the gap of 2 months with regular practical classes being conducted which contributed to the final score. Out of the two sessionals, the best score was taken into account for the final score. The practicals and internals counted for 20 marks and the final exam was of 50 marks making the total 100.

Admission

I took AIEEE in 2011 after my 12th and i scored an all india rank of 25282. I wanted initially to go to PEC , Chandigarh but i got CSE in UIET and Metallurgical in PEC. So i took branch over college even though PEC was and still it is a much bigger college than UIET. It was a wise decision as i got the opportunity to learn so many languages.

Faculty

3.5

Most of the faculty were very experienced people in their departments and 2-3 professors being the expert in their subjects in the whole region. One or two irrelevant subjects were being taught by trainees which was a bit strange. Some teachers were too orthodox to teach with a new style.
