Wide campus with experiences

The campus atmosphere is good.But M.S.c Physics is not good as Somaiya ending and Managements.They have placements and internships and making students more skilful.

I have heard so much about K J Somaiya Institutes.They are one of the best institutes in Mumbai.The college campus have institution even from primary level to management graduation.Since the campus have good name and ranking I opted to do my M.Sc. here.

Course curriculum is almost same as Mumbai University but the last semester got some changes.Since this is an autonomous institute they have right to change the curriculum.For M.Sc. Physics the final semester for 2019 is long term project.Although the syllabus was little bit load.

Nope.My college(K J Somaiya Science and Commerce) does not provide any internships.I think other management and engineering students only have internships.

There is no campus placements for M.Sc. and the professors even said you will not get a job just because of M.Sc,You should have NET qualified for lectureship and JRF. Although doing M.Sc. in Physics most of the job opportunities are in teaching related fields.

Since the college is good for enjoyment there is so many events to celebrate. Every year cultural events give a day to show talents. There is somaiya foundation day every year which includes cultural and sports events. And Maker Mela is one of the great events in Mumbai is conducted here.And this Makermela encourages young minds to start startups and present their ideas and it is supported by Ridl(Startup Hub of Somaiya).

The fee is expensive comparing to other colleges in Mumbai but considering Bangalore it is feasible.For one year the fee will be 42000.If the student belonging to other backward caste category according to Maharashtra Government then there is deduction fee as 8000 per year.

K J Somaiya College provides scholarships based on merit and need.For students who have poor background can avail needful scholarship by submitting income certificate.Also Maharashtra govt scholarships can be availed.

The campus life is awesome.If you have college id card you free to access any sports equipment and ground.There is basketball,volleyball,football,table tennis courts.These are well maintained always.The gender ratio is more girls compare to boys.There are Nss,Ncc as extracurricular services.Physics labs are pathetic.

Since I am a day scholar not much aware of the hostel. But heard that the hostel rents are expensive. The hostel room can be shared or private and the rent will depend on it. The hostels provide good food and they provide laundry facilities too. Although it is a well-maintained hostel.

We are not connected with alumni network till now.Senior students are helpful.They gave us their old journals and give needy tips.

The exam structure as prescribed by Mumbai University.There are four semesters for M.Sc. and there will be semester wise exams.Since the fourth semester for M.Sc.Physics is projected there is only project valuation in fourth semester.Other three semester is as Mumbai university including two practicals per semester.

The admission process is purely based on merit.There two way to get admission in Somaiya Science and Commerce college.First one is through Mumbai University Centralized allotment process.For that you have register at Mumbai University's Digital University portal(for non-Mumbai university students) and later apply at university by buying prospectus and fillings the forms.Another way of admission is through K J Somaiya Admission portal through which I got admission.The merit list is published on the basis of previous qualification exam marks,in my case bachelors degree marks.After that they will call students round wise for counselling and admission is settled.

Faculty of the college is not much good as expected.Most of the faculties are NET qualified and PhDs even though they are not good at teaching.They are only curriculum based other than extra knowledge.Some of the teachers just focusing to covering the syllabus.
