Dislikes
- Raipur is a place with extreme climates . Quiet hot during Summers and cold during winters
- Hostels are almost next to none just few hundred of student's accommodation is available
- The campus is smaller than expected almost close to 100 acers and 30-50% is covered by vegetation
Course Curriculum Overview
The futuristic and innovative scope was clearly visible in the course curriculum of my chosen course ( Biomedical Engineering) . The given course allows you with adequate time and resources yo develop yourselves academically as well as technically ( Programming, Sports , NCC, others activities). The teachings could be improvised a little by introducing the students with the basics more and help the development intellectual ground and also include e learning more . The Examination frequency is twice per 4-5 months, sometimes it can be quite exhausting
Internships Opportunities
Recently summer internship notification were released with quite ambitious and well structured opportunities are provided but without any stipend and the application fees was about 2000 for college insider and 5000 for external students
Placement Experience
Not too good place but the avg placement is around 12-15. Some notable companies visiting nit raipur are Microsoft, Ambuja Cements , Infosys , TCS , GE Healthcare, ONGC ,many PSU, SAIL , etc. almost 70% of students gets placed every year. Highest package for year 2023 was 55lac. Students are eligible for placement from 3rd year. I plan to pursue further education as biomedical has almost a very substantial hike in its importance after master's degree
Fees and Financial Aid
The course fee was around 140000 per year , but for reservations it is as low as (15600 per year for SC/ST/PWD/Annual income below 1 lac) and a 2/3 waiver for OBC-NCL and Annual income below 5 lac. The complete cost of a btech degree was around 8 lac Rs including food , residential expenses and course fees. NIT allots scholarship, NSP,etc
Campus Life
AVINYA The innovation fest , AAVARTAN the Tech fest, ECLECTIKA the Cultural fest , and many mores fests are regularly conducted at NIT raipur, the hostel facilities are quite inadequate, the dispensary is quite maintained and have stocks of medications and medical personnel are available, Sports are not quite supported here but the student handled committees have focused on development of many sports facilities such as well maintained gymnasium, basketball court , badminton court , softball court , football ground and a separate cricket ground.NIT has quite a big collection of journals and many books of international origin. The classrooms are equipped with e learning facilities but not in every classroom. There are almost 35-40 different clubs and commitees funded by college and run by students.
Admission
I appeared for JEE and got 92.43%ile . Student must have atleast 75% scored in 12 boards. The students are allotted the college through JOSAA and CSAB counseling conducted by NTA. Bi-yearly exams and difficulty is moderate to high..
