What Students Say
Likes
- The thing I liked most was the grandeur of the college, the amount and quality of fests and the students behaviour. Teachers are very helpfull also.
- The no of fests are many more so one can get to enjoy much.
- The studen teacher relationship in the college is very healthy and professors are very helpfull.
Dislikes
- The facilities of sports both indoors and outdoors is very minimal.
- There is no separate departmental building. The feeling of distinguished is gone.
- The ample amount of assignments and study pressure is huge. There is also very less girls.
Course Curriculum Overview
The curriculum is of new cbcs scheme that is more industrial oriented and give more freedom for students in terms of observing the practical knowledge better. There happens exam twice a semester. First mid sem then End sem. Both has weightage in cgpa of student. The syllabus have some areas of improvement also, like for civil at end of even 2nd year the practical knowledge that we gain is very less.
Internships Opportunities
For civil core there are no such companies which would give u campus internship, but there are option for research internship in campus. For non core u can apply either online or offline and can land for a good paying internship. There are BSP nearby, wher also one can go for core internship. Adani ambuja etc are where we go for field visits.
Placement Experience
The placement scenario is pretty good here depending on the branch though. For non core placement it is always leading among other NITs, but due to recession right now the scenario is a little less clear. For core though u may not find good options but as per research oriented works you would be encouraged a lot.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fee is refurbished as per family income. If I have family income less than 1 lakh all tuition fee is waived whereas if I have family income less than 5 lakh 1/3 rd fee is waived. There are also shraman and other scholarships also for sc, st, obc students for financial help. There is no option for campus employment but during studies you can earn throgh online teaching and freelancing.
Campus Life
The campus life is quite good but not upto the NIT mark, because the size of campus is small. There are more than 10 clubs created and run by students for extracurricular activities like singing, dancing, Finance, Entrepreneurship, sports etc. The clbs give oneself freedom to do other things than study and also create healthy senior junior relationship.
Hostel Facilities
Hostel facility is quite bad honestly. Majority of students don't get hostel. Assuming 10 to 15 percent localities 40 percent students get hostel at the basis of merit from 2nd year. In first st year you get seat by jee rank. Sc and ST students have some seats reserved in hostel. But around the college there are many good stays and room rental so don't need to bother much.
Admission
We came here through qualifying JEE mains. After that josaa counseling happened and we got out college and branch choice. Candidates outside India can apply by DASA. While the process is generally well structured, the administrative delays during counseling and seat allocation can be frustrating. For civil cutoff was around 50000 rank for general other state.
