MNNIT Review by Chemical Engineering students

I have Chosen BTech in Chemical Engineering. Chemical engineering allows students to get a well respected jobs in the field of oil refinery,food industries, petro chemical industries, Pharma industries and many more. It also encourage you to pursue research in this field. PSUs hire chemical engineers. In the curriculum the core chemical engineering subjects like Heat Transfer Operation Fluid Particle operation Chemical reaction engineering chemical process principle process dynamics and control plant design Environmental pollution impact and control are taught. The curriculum is decent enough to prepare a student for industrial job . But the practical implementation is very less . Most of the equipments are not in working condition. More industrial visit for the students should be conducted for more encouragement in the students. Each semester(Total 8)has mid sem and end sem exam along with practical exam.Difficulty of the exam vary near medium range.First year has common subject

The Companies start to visit the campus for intership opportunities in the month of June nearly the start of summer vacation by the end of 2nd year. And it goes till the end of 3rd year. DeShaw , Atlassian, Oracle , Goldman Sachs , BPCL like companies visit for hiring . Consultancy company also visit the campus like Sprinkler but the opportunity is very less and competitive. In tech field the competition is very high and most companies allow only circuital branch students . A very good knowledge of Coding language, DSA and a project is a must requirement for internship opportunity . In chemical engineering the opportunity is there but the number of companies for tech intership is less and competitive. Core companies hire chemical engineers for intership opportunities. High CPI and knowledge is necessary. Currently out of 58 , 8 students are hired for the Core Chemical intership.

Above 5 lakh category per year costs is about Rs. 1,87,000 (93500 per semester). For the first semester, it is 98500. Between 1-5 lakh categories per year, the cost is about Rs. 1,04,000 (52000 per semester). For the first semester, it is Rs. 57,000. Below the 1 lakh category per year, the costs is about Rs. 62000 ( 31000 per semester). For the first semester, it is Rs. 36,000. The above include all the tuition, hostel and other miscellaneous fees . Mess fees for each semester are Rs. 25000. Refund is initiated after deducting the amount for one semester in mess fees. The tuition fee is same since 2019 . The college offer scholarship to the top 5 students of each branch ( 20000 rupees). Other scholarship include NSP, state scholarships, etc. Companies visit the campus in the month of June for placement and internship opportunities. Latest 11 students got an internship out of 60 in the core and software fields. Placement percentage of now is about 57%.

Campus life is beautiful with a decent campus. The annual cultural fest is called Culrav comprising of 3 days full of fun , events and pro nites. Recently Bollywood Singer Mohit Chauhan and the famous band Nalayak came for the 2024 Culrav. The annual techfest is called Avishkar in which each branch conduct competition. Mock job interview test are conducted and quizzes, Exhibition and all are also conducted. GNO talks are the most famous out of all events which include talks with famous personalities. Recently Suhani Shah came for the event. Ted also conducts event . Renaissance, Udhav and many more . Through out the year various sports event with Annual Athletics Meet. Some of the classes are equipped with projector. Out of which few are working. A large number of books are available in the library. One can easily find the books recommended by professor. One has to register for each semester by paying registration and mess fees, respectively. A hostel allotment form is submitted to the caretaker. Students outside the radius of 10 km from campus are given preference, then according to the availability of seats. The First year hostel SVBH has spacious rooms. Each room has space for the allotment of 3 students. Study room with tables is there. Mess is hygienic. But the water cooler on only ground floor is in well condition. For the second year, a small room with two allotments. Room space is very less and there is only one cupboard. The study table is of old quality. Very few working RO purifiers. Not frequent cleaning and sweeping of the rooms. Dustbins are in less amounts. The third and final year hostel has a single allotment in one room.

Students who cleared the JEE Mains cutoff were eligible. My percentile was 97.8. My rank was 7000 in OBC . There is another way of admission for the foreign students which is DASA. The application form for JEE is issued by the NTA in the month of December . The exams are usually held in 2 phases ( one in January and one in April ) . Application fee is rs 1000 for male candidates and for female candidates it is 800. Yes the college gives reservation benefits for seats in SC / ST /OBC category. The cutoff for OBC candidates is less as compared to general. The difficulty level of exam varies from medium to hard . Once the exam is cleared , one has to fill the choice of college and according to the rank . College and branch is alloted . Once college is alloted one has to pay Josaa fee of 35000 and college fees of 40000 . Then the offline registration is held according to the dates of college alloted. Give all the verified documents . Thus process is completed
