- The place can get lonely if you get into the a specific headspace.
- Manipal is also referred to as the drug city, locally. It's extremely easy to go down that path.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course curriculum isn't that appealing. It has a lot of courses which might force you to question your decision of taking it up. Overall, the course does prepare you for the real-world applications. The teaching for some courses is rote learning driven more than application based. Can be modified a little. The teaching methods need to be conditioned continuously considering the change in the mindset of the students. Continuous assessment is used to grade a student. We have MISACs (assignment,quiz etc) 2 per course, followed by midterms and then a FISAC (assignment, miniproject, quiz etc)
Internships Opportunities
Internships opportunities provided by the college are limited. You require a specific CGPA to get a decent internship. The project work, co-cirricular activities, achievements etc matter to a large extent as well.
Placement Experience
The placements are open to students from 6th semester onwards. Microsoft, Nvidia, Deloitte, Deshaw include the major recruiters. The highest package offered is around 50LPA usually by Microsoft. 80? placement rate. I might consider Masters after the completion of Bachelors.
Fees and Financial Aid
Fee structure is quite expensive for a middle class household. Scholarship is available, merit based. Financial aid is provided on provision of proper documents. Campus employment opportunities are among the best when it comes to private institutions (not as good as BITS though)
Campus Life
The technical fest, TECHTATVA is organized in the month of October, while the cultural fest, REVELS, is organized in the month of March. The library is a pretty vast one, it consists all books and journals a student might require. Sports are an important part of MIT, Manipal. There are vast opportunities for an individual to thrive in the field of sports with proper support from the the college. We at Manipal, take pride in out club culture. We have various student projects, funded by majors companies depending on the field of work
Hostel Facilities
The facilities provides vary from different hostel accommodations. Ac, attached washrooms etc come at any extra cost. The hostel is not as lively if you're introverted. Can get a bit boring. Meal quality varies from mess to mess. Best being Food Court 2. Hostels are slightly overpriced.
Admission
The admission process involves an entrance exam. It includes PCM, aptitude reasoning and English. It's a decent level exam. The form to apply for the same is available on the main website www.manipal.edu There are no reservations whatsoever. Admission is merit based only barring the NRIs
Faculty
Most of the faculty members are either PhD or pursuing the same. They have great interests in their field of work. And are always willing to support every student for any research work, prove you, internship opportunities etc.
