- The facilities provided, such as classrooms, technology, department equipment, campus size and greenery are great. Placements are great and flawless
- Fests are amazing, social interactions between different cultures since people from different states, countries and cultures gather together.
Dislikes
- Campus roads are poorly maintained, lack of water irregularly, hostel maintenance is poor, location of the college itself is very bad.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course is usually regularly altered to keep up with the recent development in the relevant technological and scientific development, although the profs use conventional old teaching methods, it still holds up, exams are held at regular intervals, per semester we have two cycle internal tests, and 1 end semester exam followed with an assignment. Usually the exams are on a mediocre difficulty level, making it not that difficult to score good grades
Internships Opportunities
We have an Training and Placement cell that handles the placement and internships of the college, internships start for each student from the 5th sem onwards, companies like tata steel, goldmann Sachs, Indian oil, ongc etc appear usually
Placement Experience
Placements are good, over 90% of the students get placed annually with a median package of 12 lpa, over 500+ companies visit every year. Students become eligible for placements after their 6th semester, and after their 4th sem for internships, major companies like Microsoft hire upto a 52 lpa package, the highest so far has been 72 lpa.
Fees and Financial Aid
Fees are typical of what one expects from a govt. engineering college, for odd semesters we pay 72k as tuition fees, 62k for even semesters and per semester the hostel+ mess fees is 44k. A various number of scholarships such as Recal made by the alumni of nit Trichy is available on merit basis.
Campus Life
We have 3 major fests annually, Festember the cultural fest, Pragyan the technical fest and NITTFest the inter departmental cultural fest, usually held in October and April. NITT has one of the biggest libraries in India, spanning over 1.5 lakh + books and journals completely free for use by the students. Classrooms are equipped with high quality projectors and proper seating arrangements. Sports facilities are top notch maintained well. There are a lot of groups and clubs such as sports contingents, technical clubs, cultural clubs, dance and music troupes.
Hostel Facilities
Hostels however are not that well maintained, most of the hostels are very old and haven't been taken care off well, there are a total of 22 hostels for the boys and 6 hostels for the girls. For B.Tech in first year the rooms are given to be either 3 sharing or 4 sharing, however by second year onwards it needs to be 2 sharing. We have 6 total messes for the boys and 2 messes for the girls that share north as well as South Indian food.
Admission
Admission is done solely on the basis of performance in JEE. the application is provided by the official website of nit Trichy once josaa and csab results are declared and based on one's preference whether they have availed a seat at nitt. Usually the cutoff for lower departments lies in the range of a rank of 20-25k.
Faculty
in the department of MME, the faculty are all extremely friendly and interactive. we have a faculty ratio of 75/6 per semester. they are all highly qualified since the minimum requirement to be a faculty at nit Trichy is to have a Ph.D, most of whom have been done at top IITs. It is very easy and efficient to interact with the profs, and I do it almost everyday
