Overview of college life in NIT TRICHY

Second year onwards the courses become major based and our usually designed around application of that theory in real life. In the first year curriculum can be changed to remove subject which are not needed by a student in that major . This change should have been done after branch change was removed The exams happen almost every month with students appearing two unit tests and a end semester exam before graduating to the next semester. Difficulty of exams are usually dependent on the professor while there are some who are lenient with their markings some are not

Internships are officially offered on campus from 5th semester where stipends can range from 15000 to 2,50,000 a month , companies like ITC and PNG offer hefty stipends to students who get internships But to get these internships one has to go through a lot of steps Resume selection followed by online tests , Group discussions and then personal interviews Qualifying all of these will get you your internship In ECE core domain the big name companies that come are - NXP SEMICONDUCTOR, TI, QUALCOMM , NVIDIA

Campus placements are offered by our college's training and placement cell . Companies come in four domains - software role, branch core roles, analytics and management roles, Students are eligible to sit for olacements in the 7th semester while some students get PPOs and have the option to sitout of final placements Some of the big name companies that visit our campus are - GOOGLE , MICROSOFT , NVIDIA , ORACLE , AMAZON , TEXAS INSTRUMENTS , UBER, RUBRICS being some of the highest paying companies Above 90% of the people sitting get placed with a average salary in software being of about 20 LPA OVER 220 companies come and over 700 offers are given to students

Fee structure is different caregory waise while general people have to pay a certain amout . There are certain scholarships which are availed by a lot of students who are weak monetory wise . These scholarships are actually helpful and allow the students to continue their degree even when they are economically weak DASA students usually have to pay thrice the usual amount around 8 lacs per year Mess and hostel fee is compulsory if you wish to stay on campus and is the dame for everyone.

Social life is amazing in such a college if you are able to be a part of many clubs , The se clubs give you a lot of exposure and allow you to meet nee people and make new friends who you can get very close to since clubs are very active The college is filled with techincal clubs , social clubs and cultural clubs , you think of any domain and there will be a club dedicated to it in our college from a proper racing club to a fashion club we have everything Sports contigent are also a thing where the team participates in various pan India competitions in all expense paid trips to other colleges and our teams also take part in the prestigious inter-NIT competitions held once a year

A room will provide you with basic amenities like table and chair to study a wall cupboard to keep your belongings , a cot , a light and a fan The rooms might not be of the best qualtiy considering it is a govt funded college but it is sufficient to get through college life . The infrastructure of the actual hostel is gery good with continuos running water and ventilation always there with clean bathrooms and common tooms with tvs to leisure in Most hostels have empty areas that can be used as substitute cricket fields and badminton courts to releive you of your late night stress Mess food can be subjected to taste , it is not i would recommend someone but once used to does not taste bad on the off day you dint want to have mess food badly the campus has a lot of eateries where we can get good food for cheap Most messes are located near hostels the maximum being a 5 min bike ride Registrations are done through a common portal once you have paid the mess fee along with the hostel fee

Jee main is the exam one has to give in order to get into NIT Trichy . Being the number 1 NIT it is hard to get in . There are reservations for ews, obc , sc st categories along with female and state quotas. This exam happens around twice a year in which to wualify you must get above 89 percentile( varies each year)

The faculty members are usually graduates phd holders of our own college they become professors after spending a lot of years on campus . There are also a few faculty who are hired from other tier 1 colleges based on their experience and job profiles. Most professors have their own way of following a curriculum and usually apply whatever their method of teaching works. Professors here very interactive throughout the class and also can be approached after class hours in their department cabins . Most classes have a class representative who acts as a medium for the teachers and students
