College Unfiltered: Tales from the Campus Life.

The fast development in electriv vehicles drove me to take up my course (EEE).But the curriculam is not up to the mark ...there are subjects in which the methods and procedures have improved but we are still taught the old methods...relavant electives are not provided. Changes are being made for the up coming batches.The exmas are conducted in 4 parts ...3 internal exams and 1 semester exam. the internal exms are approximately 1 and a half month apart and the semester exam is always 10 days after the third internal exam. The 1st internal eam has 1 or 1 and a half unit as portions and similarly the second internal exam is for the next 1 and a half portions and in the third internal exam its full portions. The exam papers are not direct they test the ynderstanding ans applicatio skills of the students.

Companies like Goldmann, paypal, wipro offer internships with stipend of 22k per month. It is compulsory to make a project in 6th sem which is an additional benifit to show the interviewers. The projects are usually chosen by the students and a mntor assists them.

in the 7th sem the students are eligible for placements. Prominant companies like ....Bosch, TCS, Infosys, IFB, Goldmann, Paypal etc are regular companies which take students from SASTRA. Highest offered package has gone upto 30lpa and average being 7lpa. Lot of efforts are made from the management side o bring in more companies. My paln is to write civil service exams

The fee increases by 5 percent every year. The fee is collected ant the start of the New semester. The com0lete cost of the education is close to 2 and half lakhs ...80000 for education ..22000 for bus service as a day scholor . Sometimes extra fee is added such as breakage fee about 800 on average each sem ...and the breakage is not specified. Dean's merit list is a scholorship which awards one fifth or two fifths consessions in the fees ...and hostel scholorship of 16000 is awarded.

the main fests are ....a tech fest Daksh..a sports fest colloeseum and a cultural fest Kuruksastra. they are held in the months of February March and April. all the books necessary are available for all the branches. A projector is there in every class for smart learning. All sorts of sports like chell carrom badminton fuootball cricket are encoraged. Many groups like Arts group ...promotions group technical groups music team are run by the students. They improve the hiddent talent and hobies we have beside the studies. Al the events are stress releasers

eligibility criteria is that to have passes in central or state board exams in 10th and 12th. The selection has two methods one purely on board marks and ther wihich takes in consideration of the JEE marks in a 75:25 ratio respectively. The application forms and other details can esaily be accesed in the sastra home website. There is only one reservation that i the regional reservation given to the trichy and thanjavur students . 10 % seats are reserved for them. The web site needs to be improved ...it crashes very often.

There is 1 faculty for every 60 students. All the faculty have authorized Phd and Mtech.The teachers follow both modes of teaching ...using board and projector accordingly. Theory is first taught in the class with videos and later demonstration is shown in the lab simultaneously. A mentor is alotted for every 10 students who monitor and follow the students profile. Most of the faculty are very approachable and friendly ...they are always available to help in the free hours and even after college hours. We can easily approach regading internships, research and basic doubts in the subject.The evaluation of the examination is very fair anf just.
