Remarks

The college is the first Autonomous College in Kerala. The National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) awarded Five Star status to St. Berchmans' College, in the first cycle of accreditation, A+ status on the second and A grade on the third; the top grading of each cycle. The UGC has recognized St. Berchmans' College as one among the six colleges in Kerala accorded with the status of 'College with Potential for Excellence'(CPE). The college has won the R. Sankar award presented by the Government of Kerala to the best college in Kerala twice in a row

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

The course structure is updated yearly as per industry needs. The B.com syllabus is yearly updated so that the students get enough knowledge on the Industry practices prevailing. In addition to it, the Autonomous status currently vested upon the college gives it the flexibility to structure textbooks and syllabus as per changing needs.

Placement Experience

3.5

EY and KPMG are major recruiters who visit yearly for recruitment. Students get placed with an average package of 3 lakhs p.a.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Back when I studied B.com Finance and taxation(2014- 17). Aided students were taught tuition free but were charged Rs.600 examination fee. The self financing students were charged Rs.12000 (tuition + examination fee)per semester which were further reduced by the scholarships as SB college mostly took students based on their merit.

Fees and Financial Aid

I haven't applied for any scholarships but, a lot of my friends did apply for state and centrally based scholarships.

Campus Life

5

Even though SB College was formerly boys only college, the college now accepts girls for self-financing and certain selected courses like biotechnology. So the campus is mostly filled with boys. The college has a lot of extracurricular floating activities which is solely dependent on the students and run by them. The college hosts a lot of Seminars, Add on courses based on your interests.

Alumni/Alumna

I have heard that SB College has Alumni Network abroad and in India which is one of its main source of funding. SB College has been home to top influencers that shaped the image of Kerala like; Film actor Prem Nazir Padmavibhooshan P. Parameswaran Cardinal Mar George Alencherry Raju Narayana Swami IAS C. V. Ananda Bose IAS Servant of God Mar Mathew Kavukattu Planning Board member, Former Kerala University V.C, Dr. B. Ekbal George Joseph (scientist) Film Actor M. G. Soman Former Chief Minister of Kerala Oommen Chandy, Retired Supreme Court Justice Cyriac Joseph, Film Director Siby Malayil, NSS General Secretary P. K. Narayana Panicker Film Director Martin Prakkat Cine actor Kunchacko Boban Noted scriptwriter Bipin Chandran American scientist, professor, and expert on lithium-ion batteries Kuzhikalail M. Abraham, N. Sreekantan Nair

Admission

To get into SB College (Aided) one has to apply through the Single window system under the MG University Kottayam. The University will then allot seats as per the applicants 12th std marks and considering other criteria. The college is pretty straight forward when it comes to admission. Admissions to the Self-financing is again through the single window system and partly through management quota.

Faculty

5

The Faculties are a great asset of SB College. SB College has some of the finest faculties in the state.T through my years of study all lecturers I have come across are very friendly (so friendly that you even miss out the "student- teacher" distance with them). The Senior Faculties of the college are all Ph.D. holders and have more than 10 years of experience in teaching. The Junior teachers are all young and mostly competent ( either attaining Ph.D. or exploring further career prospects. The Faculties are always ready to help.
