Course Curriculum Overview
Medical science is one of the most interesting subjects for me to learn and that made me choose the course. As medical science is a very vast field and every day something new comes up so we have to be very updated about this field. It's not only a subject of science but also a subject of art. We have to deal with patients and their attendants so communication plays a very big role here. We are taught about ethics, behaviour and rights also in the course so that we can face the real world better. Improvements can be made in the practicals like bringing more equipment, specimens and instruments and there should be visual tests from time to time. Internal exams occur every 3 months and then final exams for every batch. I think the exam pattern is somewhat old-fashioned and some standard questions need to be introduced slowly.
Internships Opportunities
The internship is offered by the college itself where we have to work under experienced doctors and PG and this is the time when we actually implement our bookish knowledge and learn many new things that theory books cannot teach. We have to assist senior doctors and help nurses and all.
Fees and Financial Aid
As my institution is government-aided, there are no tuition fees as such. At the time of admission in the first year, Rs 24000 was taken which included everything for the rest of the years (4.5 years). In hostels. we only have to give the mess fee which is 2500/month. Doctors never seat idle. so no problem in employment. There is a one-year internship and one one-year rural job as a doctor.
Campus Life
This is the area where my college has to improve. It is not that there are no cultural events conducted here but the frequency is less and the cultural events are small where no singers or comedians or any artist is invited. There is no official auditorium either. Sports is fine. there is a cricket league every year and annual sports competitions are also conducted but improvement should be made in the standard of these competitions. The library is good. Books based on every department are found.
Hostel Facilities
In the case of girls, rooms to girls ratio is less but a new hostel is in construction and is almost ready so this problem will soon be resolved. There is a bed with a mattress and pillow, a table, a chair and an almirah provided for every student. Hostel fees are very low.. rupees 5000 for 4.5 years. Mess fees are 2500/month. The registration for hostel is done on the day of admission in 1st year itself.
Admission
Eligibility test - NEET after class 12. The exam is conducted every year and lakhs of students apply for this course. The details of the exam can be found on the official website of Neet. Reservation benefits are also there for various categories.
Faculty
Faculty to student ratio is adequate in most of the departments but in some departments, it's still a matter of concern. The number of faculty affects us in ways such as some topics are skipped to be taught and it also burdens the present faculties. The facilities are highly qualified and most of them excel in teaching us. They are easy to approach and very kind to us. Some lab faculties are not very good but okay.
