Remarks
The college is good and can improve in some aspects like the powers to the Student Council members of the college, other things like campus, library, infrastructure, classrooms are very good and are improving at a good pace.
Entrance Preview
My reason for selecting VNIT was very simple that as I myself was not prepared to live away from my family and then the best college to be in Nagpur for engineering was VNIT of course so I opt for this very beautiful college situated at the heart of Nagpur near Ambazari lake.
Course Curriculum Overview
The courses offered are better than the others regional colleges in the state and other engineering colleges, what I enjoyed is the various open and humanity courses offered by the college in the 3rd and the 4th year of college which makes the curriculum more interesting and one has to opt for these courses in his 4 years of engineering as come credits offer by these courses are compulsory for completion of the degree. Also, the curriculum offers you to choose the other departmental elective courses as your choice of interest. The overall course curriculum is way better.
Internships Opportunities
Yes, there are various companies that the college called to offer an internship to its students and the best thing is that the companies don't look back to your engineering background while offering the internship rather they look for the students that have interest and some basic knowledge about the internship profile the company is going to give. The general stipend is 40k to 50k a month and most of them offer the pre-placement offer to the students who perform well in there internship period. The overall experience is good.
Placement Experience
The placements are improving over the years and I guess at the record is going to break at my time due to the college policy of One student One Job, the opportunities for every student of being placed have increased and the Training and placement committee is really working hard to bring as many companies as possible to give the 100% placement of the college. Also sometimes the professor helps the students with the help of their very good contacts in the industry or sometimes refer you to a particular company.
College Events
The two main events held in the college are AXIS-the technical festival of the college and AAROHI-the cultural festival of the college. various renowned artists and performers are invited to the campus for assessing and performing in the festivals. Highly recognized and famous personalities are invited as a chief guest like scientists, entrepreneurs, politicians and etc. They are 3 days long and filled with a lot of activities, dramas, competitions, and various performances. Other Events like Departmental Gathering and Institutional Gathering are held in the college in which various sports events are organized.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The fee structure is feasible and also the college offers various scholarships for the students belonging to backward classes. The college offers the students with financial weak background the time to submit the fees within the time period by the admission committee. The fee structure is ideally better than other engineering colleges.
Fees and Financial Aid
The loan facility was offered to one of my classmates as he was not financially strong to pay the fees at a time he was asked to submit some documents and was helped by the college committee.
Campus Life
The campus is the best one in Maharashtra, it is surrounded by the lake on one side and also the metro station is nearby to the college, but yet to start. The campus has more greenery and most of the locality visit the campus in the early morning for jogging and refreshing. The sports facilities are good and have grounds, courts and other facilities for the sportsperson also the college has well-equipped Gym for the bodybuilders there are various clubs in the college representing particular activity performed by them like team v-velocity, E-cell club and etc.
Hostel Facilities
The hostel is one of the best hostels in the NIT's, I believe its like not less than 3-star hotel the hygiene is the best and the rooms are well furnished and painted and working fans and tube lights in working conditions the security are also good and they won't allow outsider without the consent. The mess food is okay and the students have the right to change the contractor by discussing it with the student's council if they are not satisfied with the quality of the food.
Alumni/Alumna
The alumni network is way expanded than expected and one of the best to my knowledge they help in the best possible way be it in the placement or getting familiar with the new city or country they are in. There is a group of all the alumni of the college and also a get together is arranged every year by the college for the alumni.
Exam Structure
The exams are conducted within a span of nearly 40-45 days. The semester starts has two sessional exams and end semester exam at the end of every semester. The relative grading system in the curriculum helps students to excel and also increases the competition within the students. Also their continuous assessment of students based on the project, presentation, seminars, assignments and etc.
Admission
After the results were out of, JEE mains the process for the admissions were yet to start as everyone was waiting for the JEE advance result and as didn't qualify it. I was nor eligible for the admissions for IIT's, the admission process for NIT's was conducted by the committee called Josaa so the various information and notices were displayed on the website of the Josaa committee and the process took nearly 2-3 days for all the admission in the college and the hostel.
Faculty
The faculty helps the pupil in the best possible way they and also the faculty adviser allotted in the first year of college helps you to understand and help you to choose courses accordingly. Almost all the faculty members of any department are the Ph.D holders for various renowned colleges like NIT's, ISM and IIT's. They share the knowledge and help us to learn and grow through practical experiences.
