What Students Say
Likes
- The best thing about the college is its campus life, as it shows in its advertisement it does provides a diverse campus life.
- As the campus is present away from the main city it provides every thing needed for the day to day living, shops are available
Dislikes
- The college infrastructure is still in its development stage thus some of the academic buildings like the central library are still under construction.
- The college doesn't take admissions on the basis of any entrance exams so the students present in the college are not segregated on any basis.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course which I had in mind was CSE and the college provided many sub-fields in the same course. There are many options like CSE in AI or in association with Microsoft and many more, the point is that there are different options available which one can choose from. The curriculum tries to change the old way of learning and introduce the new trends which are currently going on in the tech sector. Guidance is available for everyone to choose their future career whether they want to pursue in academics or in the job line of work. Faculties should stop the process of learning through only a pdf and later on give the exams through that only, it does not encourage any learning opportunities. The exams are held every 2-3 months and between them many tests, and vivas are also held.
Placement Experience
The students of the 7th semester become eligible to sit for the campus placements. The placement scenario is not good for the engineering department in the university. The average package is low compared to other universities and considering the global recession it may have not yet reached its lowest till now. Some companies do come with a package of 40 -50 lpa but the students are unable to clear its placement tests and thus fail to get placed at any major company.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fee structure for BTech CSE is 1.6L /year. This fee is constant throughout your academic life in the college and will not change depending upon your year or the semester. The complete tution fees will come close to 6.4L for the four years of engineering which you pursue in the college. There is no other charge that you have to provide other than the tution fee excluding the hostel fees. Many scholarships are available in the college for the students. The students who appeared for the Gujarat counselling session can avail of the scholarship to get their fees as low as 20k-30k whereas the students of other states have to opt for other scholarships like defence, siblings, on the basis of 12th boards etc. The students inside the college can go for paid internships provided by the college only inside the campus. The pay is around 6k to 10k depending upon the role they are given.
Campus Life
The annual fest DHOOM is usually held during the summer months, march- april. As it is a yearly fest it goes on for around 4-5 days. The tech fest held every year during the months of Feb-march is also held for nearly a week. A central library is in construction currently for the campus but libraries are still available in the respective department buildings and it is stocked with an appropriate number of books. All the classes are equipped with projectors for studying purposes. Sports activities are held throughout the year, which include the inter-faculty tournaments and other high level competitions. Cricket grounds are available in addition to it basketball court, volleyball courts, and football grounds and a trek and field ground is also available in the campus. Many of the social media platforms are managed by the students of the faculty. Many groups and other clubs are present for hosting events and many extracurricular activities.
Hostel Facilities
There are a number of hostels which are present in the college. You can choose the type of hostel depending upon the number of beds ac or non-ac. The charges increase as you decrease the number of beds available in a room. The charges for ac and non-ac rooms are also different. The room is equipped with personal desks and chairs for studying, cupboards for clothes and personal things and an attached bathroom and balcony in some of the cases. A total of 3 times of meals is provided, the morning breakfast, lunch and dinner at last. The hostels can be registered at the time of admission and can only be changed after one academic year in the month of April.
Admission
There is no actual minimum eligibility for opting for any course in the college, you just have to pass your 12th boards after that you are eligible to pursue the under-grad degree of your choice. The application form is available through the Parul University official website throughout the academic year. For admissions first you have to apply the application form after which your counsellor will get in contact with you and guide you through your admission process. The college doesn't conduct any entrance exams of its own nor does it have a minimum criteria for admissions, it may be a good idea in terms of profit but it sure does degrade the academic culture on the campus. There should be criteria released every year for the admission process.
Faculty
The faculty-to-student ratio is decent considering it is a private college. The faculties are decent excluding some who are really good at what they are doing. they are instructed to teach in english which they obviously fail to do so and thus fail to actually teach something good. There are professors who are ready to teach at hours other than their classes but those are small in numbers. The faculties which are good at their respective classes are small but are very helpful in nature. Most of the faculties are eligible to teach any group of college students and some are alumni from reputed iits and nits.
Other Applied Colleges
College of Engineering and Technology - [CET] | Bachelor of Technology [B.Tech] (Computer Science and Engineering)
Didn't got the desired branch.
Veer Surendra Sai University of Technology - [VSSUT] | Bachelor of Technology [B.Tech] (Computer Science and Engineering)
The campus was not so big and the facilities were also less compared to other colleges
