Course Curriculum Overview
As a mechanical engineering student, I can say that our course is quite updated. While other colleges still focus more on Engineering graphics using drafter and pencil on drawing board, our college emphasizes more on AutoCAD, alongside traditional methods. We had C and Python language in 1st year and MATLAB in 2nd year. So it is quite up-to-date and the professors also try to cope with the demands of the time.
Internships Opportunities
I have not yet appeared for internship. But would apply in the next sem. Seniors are there who organise mock Online Assessment, Resume review sessions, Mock Interview and helps to build projects under technical clubs.
Placement Experience
Placements are quite good. For campus placement, one has to be in 7th sem or higher. Though for internship, it is 5th sem or upper. In recession of 2024, our college has placement of 70% students placed, Mechanical engineering with 75% and Computer Science & Engineering with 74% leading the list. Also students here get quite exposure to Govt exams, like UPSC ESE, UPSC CSE. My aim is to appear for UPSC CSE.
Fees and Financial Aid
As of my knowledge, there is no fee hike in my college in recent times. As I am under economic barrier, I would pay a total of almost 4 lakh rupees for my B.Tech , while those who are above the barrier would pay around 8 Lakh Rupees for 4 years. The Student Welfare office provides its own scholarship and helps students get scholarship form elsewhere as well. Though the mess fees is quite high and not so worth it.
Campus Life
Culrav is the annual cultural fest, Avishkar is the annual technical fest. This year both were held in the same week. Mohit Chahuan, Naalayak band, Suhani Shah, Vivek Atray (ex-IAS), MS Bitta, Rahul Adhlakha visited this year in the techno-cultural week. Also some mid-level fests for encouraging Entrepreneurship (Udhbhav), literary fest (Eloquence) , media fest (Chitrasangam), TEDxMNNIT etc are hold throughout the year. The clubs and societies are active all the year. Also there are student-run NGO, namely Anokhi Pehel and Rotaract are there. Cricket team of MNNIT is quite good, and athletics team is also very active, as well as chess team. Rest games, like volleyball, football and badminton are also worth mentioning. The library is not so good, poor infrastructure and unavailability of books are there almost every time.
Hostel Facilities
Hostel facility is completely trash. Though the mess is pure veg, but there is not much option in meals, only one or two dishes are there everyday. Also the mess authority takes 25000 Rs/semester as mess fees from each student. Though around 10000 Rs/semester is refunded, but they keep it for the whole year. The students can't even question this. Also there is power cut and internet issue almost once a week.
Admission
Simply after appearing and qualifying in the JEE Main examination, one has to simply apply for JOSAA or CSAB counseling. Also there are people who get admission through DASA (Direct Admission for Students in Abroad). All the regulations are same as that of JOSAA. No other complicacies are there.
Faculty
Faculty members are quite good. They are very helpful and easily approachable any time. They are always ready to help the students. Some teachers prefer PPT-based teaching and some prefer traditional chalk-board method. In my department, there are almost 600 students from Fresher to Final year, and total 40 professors are there for these 600 students.
Other Applied Colleges
National Institute of Technology - [NIT] | Bachelor of Technology [B.Tech] (Mechanical Engineering)
Just as an other option, which would be nearer to my home.
