First year's review

My course is mechanical engineering and as far as I know curriculum has been updated multiple times in order to meet today's demand.we have highly qualified teachers for our course and we are taught according to future world's demand.Like every other engineering colleges we also have total of 8 semester , 2 semester per year, difficulty level of exam are also high and teachers also checks our answersheet very strictly.

There are many internship opportunities provided by the college and it is compulsory for all students to do a internship for atleast a semester. Many companies provide intership like Google, Microsoft, Trident, hero etc

Campus placement are quite average overall but it varies from branch to branch with CS branch getting the highest package and biotech the least. Around 75%of eligible students of CS branch are placed and 68% of ECE, 100% of mechanical and etc

Net total fee for a semester here is 176000 with tution being 125000 for the students with family income more than 5lac per annum,but for the students with income under 5 lac net total fee is 92680 with tution being 41680.

Overall environment of campus is very calm. There are many cultural and other fest are organised here like utkansh, Bharat dhawani etc and also ISGE exhibition was also held here.There are many clubs ranging from dance to martial arts, gaming to robotics, there is also a club naming daksh which makes race cars and there are also charitable clubs like prayaas which basically teaches poor children.

There are total 3 hostel for first year boys and are three and four seater each , all the basic things are provided nothing fancy also the condition of hostel room is below average. The quality of the mess of is also below average many students had been sick many times due to food only.

In order to get admission in National institute of technology Jalandhar,I had to give and qualify Jee mains exam with suitable percentile for corresponding course.There are several Reservations benifits for SC/ST category. Jee mains is held 2 times per year first being in January and the other in April . The exam is very moderate.

Faculty to student ratio is very bad as there are total of 114 students in mechanical department first year and it is very difficult to hear them from back. But the qualification of the teachers here are very good as most of them have completed their master's and PhD form IIT's and IISC's. Most of the teachers tries their best to teach students but some teachers couldn't care less about teaching students and resolving their doubts. Most of the teachers are very approachable and are very supportive to student.They try their best to help students with their doubts but as mentioned earlier some teachers blame students for their doubts or the things they couldn't understand in class. In short there are both good and not so good teacher but the overall environment is very positive for quality education.
