Our college strictly followed the latest competency-based curriculum devised by NMC. So we get all standard curriculum. The only problem all medical students face is theory lectures are on PPT forms which Sometimes becomes longer.

Internships Opportunities

Our college hospital provides 1 year internship. It provides Rs 29000 stipends every month. West Bengal government medical colleges provide one of the highest stipend in the country. But internship can be hectic in some department.

Fees and Financial Aid

Our per semester fee is Rs 45000. So for all 9 semesters, it sums around Rs 40500. I have not seen at fee hikes in the last five years. Fees is the same in all West Bengal government medical colleges. On admission, it takes Rs1500 as admission fees. Then we have to one time Rs 2000 for registration in the 1st year. Every year examination fees for enrollment is Rs 2000. Government scholarships are provided. For SC, ST, and economic background students. In the internship period, we are paid with Rs 29000 stipend every month. After mbbs, there is a prospect of housestaffships with a salary of Rs 45000. There is 104 house staff post chosen based on ranks of 3rd proff marks.

Campus Life

Our college annual fest is ECSTASY generally it is held in the month of August or September. We can easily access all medical books with our library card. 2 cards- we can burrow for 15 days. 1 card for studying within the library. We are provided with projector and whiteboard.for running PPT forms for college lectures. We have playground for cricket and football. 1 badminton court two table tennis court 2 carrom boards. We have regular sports activities running whole year.

Hostel Facilities

We are provided with 4 people shared hostel room. Electricity bill is free. 4 fans, 4 beds and 4 desks with tables for 4 people. Hostel fees is Rs 12 per month.Wahroom is not very clean. Meal food is okay. It costs Rs 42 per meal but charge rs 36 if we have registered for meals. Satisgactorily good varieties are offered in mess menu. Hostel are easily given on the day or day after admission. It costs Rs 12 per month. Local ares provides good options for pg in the 1km range of hospital. In the range of Rs 3000 to 6000 pgs are easily available.

Admission

We have to NEET a compulsory pre medical entrance test. The ranks in neet procure us with medical seat. Application date generally comes in the month of November and December. Application fees is 1700 for General/NRI. Rs 1600 General-EWS, OBC-NCL category candidates.Rs 1000 for SC, st PwBD and third gender. Reservation-aiq 15% and state quota 85% 40% general, 10% EWS, 27% for OBC, 15% sc and 7.5% for st category candidates. Frequency- once a year generally in the first week of May. Difficulty level - easy to moderate.

Our batch strength, like all other west bengal government colleges, is 250. Every department has more or less 10 to 15 teaching staffs. But still they are easily approachable. All professors give their best and understands students problems.

The course is completely based on NMC new guidelines. Along with the theory classes where we know the structure and their working in dissection we actually see them on cadaver . Lectures should be more interesting as it's get boring to literally listen the concepts for first time like a story and at the end we forget everything

Course Curriculum Overview:

Medical field is a really good field in my opinion to serve humankind and learn about science of nature and life!the curriculum is a little overpaced and there are 19 subjects which are taught in a timespan of 4.5 years which is a bit hectic! There are 4 professional exams and 9 semesters which have pretty good difficulty and assess our skills and education. We have regular examinations in around 4-5 months each. Only thing id like to change in the curriculum is better assessment of many topics which are taught pretty well but aren't examined much leading us to waste our time in focussing on them.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Well, mbbs is very hard and long term process. You will be bored in 1st year because you cant get real clinical cases. But in Final year, 3rd Prof Part 2, you will get huge pressure. Because there are total 11 subjects, you should study in final year. It is a great burden for all. I'm not satisfied with Nmc curriculum. They are not thinking about students. They are implement their rules in chilled ac room. But they don't know the real scenarios.
