Likes
- Sophia provides a great exposure to opportunities and gives a platform which raises a leader . It might be based in a small city ajmer but the facilities provided here are very good . It has been accredited A++ by NAAC in the recent inspection.
- The sports are another important feature of Sophia . Sophia provides a great range of activities from swimming to gyming to each and every sport practice.. they have proper coaches for all the sports .
- It is very financially convienent as the course fee is less but the faculty is amazing . The best departments are Geography, political science and psychology apart from this there are many international courses , MUN and life skill courses as well .
Dislikes
- The hostel is a bit overpricy but if you love in a pg it's actually better but in terms of safety hostel weighs more.
- There are a lot of overarch and other programmes but in specific subjects and field ,college must open interships in every field .
- The placement cell should try and and more and more companies to sit in placement.
Course Curriculum Overview
The main aspect I chose this course was because of the syllabus they teach , it's very meticulously decided and all those topics help in further competitive exams that is why I've taken this particular course and subjects .we have semester system , odd and even . Both the semester exams are tough but weter prepared by our teachers accordingly.
Placement Experience
In my course i.e BA there are placements from allen and resonance and other teaching institutes . There are placements in BBA and Bcom feild as well as in BCA feild .The highest package is given by Deutsche bank which is 4,80,000 and average package of Allen is 3,50,000. student get placed in the ration of 60-65%.
Fees and Financial Aid
There's no tuition fee increase policy yet ,the fees is to be submitted in two parts . For eg ; BA costs for 28,000 so 1 part fee would be 14,000. There is admission fee in the first year. Scholarships and concession are given by looking at the conditions as well as merit .there are many job opportunities as well as in other fields such as dramatics, dance and fashion show .
Campus Life
The campus life is full of light , we have various cultural events . Such as annual sophia fest : Sophiesta, the Fashion show :.Nazakat and many other .we send out teams to various fest and events such as LNMIIT and ZEST Xavier's. We've bagged prices in both the colleges . There's a big library ranging from ncert books to competitive books . There are regular sports and it is maintained by sports committee and sports captian and vice captain . There are other skills such as aerobics, yoga , dying and printing even cooking here . there are different clubs and forums for all the departments as well as for the cultural committee and spectrum the dramatics or Anhad the singing committee, etc .
Hostel Facilities
There's a spacious room for four people . There are tables and chairs with adequate light . We have ducts and watercooler though there are common washrooms but they're cleaned regularly. The food quality is edible but not that great . We do get good food on special occasions. The affordability financially is a bit high but they provide a lot of things in return for eg breakfast, tea and snacks as well .we have Pgs and house on rents just opposite the college the locality is either Vishal side or Bhopo ka Bara.
Admission
The course has a basic eligibility of 60% marks and above for English honours you have to give basic English aptitude test , rest in any other course no entrance exam is taken. Admission process is very easy and reliable .
Faculty
Faculty - Student ratio depends department to department. In political science department there are 5 teachers to reach MA and all three years of BA and same goes for other subjects. The faculty is insightful and very talented, we have a brilliant professor who are known all around in India for eg . ma'am Monika Kanan and prof Jyoti Chandel. As for the mentorship, we have mentors for all different groups, they conduct meetings and one on one counseling sessions for students in need . Each teacher is given 15-20 mentees.
